    GFY's Size is killing it

    Am I the only one that feels that as GFY gets bigger it becomes less and less useful? You've got webmasters whoring themselves out making useless posts just to increase their sig value. You've got the females in the MISS Gfy contest posting tons to win the MISS Gfy contests. And you've got the Search feature disabled. GFY is all but useless to me now.

    It feels like 5% of all threads are business related. And if you aren't on the board at all times you miss them and they are bumped to the second page within an hour. The only time I use gfy is either to start a thread or to use the search feature.

    Anybody else feel the same way?

              I totally agree. Any useful post is quickly buried and because of the search being disabled it is pretty well lost.

              Why not just open an extra sig free forum?

                                                                                  Britney threads provoke thought...and for every britney thread thats posted, i bet a buisness connection is made...

                                                                                  For comparison, look at the thread views on those news threads...its just as high for the life of the thread, if not higher than the rest!

                                                                                          search didn't get disabled because of gfy's size. there's always been a large % of threads that were nonbiz related. but yes sig whoring has meant there's much more bullshit posts than there was in the past

Tgps and Galleries have their own section on the board. I'd love to see a Photographers and Searching for content section. Allow photographers to post their newest work. And those looking for content to post their needs there. That would be sweet.

                                                                                                                                                          GFY is starting to be nothing but "today's hottie [pic]" and 10-15 posts with the same subject (Ronald Reagan is dead is a good example). It seems like a LOT of the people here don't have a clue about this business and that could very well be because they couldn't setup an adult site even if their life was on the line if they didn't.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Any site using PHP though can speed things up tremendously using Zend's ZPS as well as the AdoDB dba (done in php). AdoDB can increase performance upto 75% in some cases ;p

                                                                                                                                                                                                  not that that is gospel.. but against what appears to be growth and an influx of newbies it doesn't statistically seem to be moving.
                                                                                                                                                                                                  Sure there are more posts, but the rise in posts doesn't seem to mirror a rise in users.
