Take care with strange paypal email running out there..

Hello people,

I have received today an email from [email protected], and I know this someone spamming under their name requesting to renew my account info.

This is kind a strange because it was sent to my personal email account which has nothing to do with my job and I never gave it for this purposes. below I'll copy the text of the email:

"Dear PayPal valued member,
Due to concerns, for the safety and integrity of the PayPal
community we have issued this warning message.

It has come to our attention that your account information needs to be renew due to
inactive members, spoof reports and frauds.
You must to renew your records and you will not
run into any future problems with the online service.
However, failure to update your records will result in account deletation.
This notification expires on June 07, 2004.

Once you have updated your account records your PayPal will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal.

Please follow the link below
and renew your account information.

PayPal Service Department "

The url link above goes to: http://65.54.174.250/cgi-bin/linkrd?...2eu s%2eto%2f
and page is inactive for some reason..

I've checked almost all the links in that page and they are going to paypal and etc.. but my question is.. why they are sending me this email to my private account, it isn't spam? or it is done by someone else?..

Samuel

If you read the fraud page on paypal.. they never refer to you as paypal member or paypal user.. Paypal always uses your username

Where you been, man? I've been getting that every couple of days since last year. From memory it's a virus, that emails to address book entries and also mailto: references it finds in the web cache.
