A question for all the drug users/people who know the legal system
If you got stopped and they searched you and found drugs, and you were a first time offender, and you had to go to court, what would happen if you just said to the judge, "I found the drugs, and I was taking them to the police station when I got arrested." Do you think it would work? I don't do drugs, I am just wondering what would happen if you said that to a judge. Any ideas?

No I don't think that would work. Judges have heard it all and he'd probably ask you why you were so stupid to handle evidence when you should have called the police to have them retrieve it in it's untampered state.
If you aren't going to have a lawyer, being a first time offender depending on what charges you are looking at you probably are better off paying the fine, getting on and don't be hauling your shit around anymore.

I would just say it's a prop for a movie and if the cop doesn't believe me, he can just try snorting some of it and see for himself. Then if he does, you wait for him to trip out for a sec and you tear out his heart.Comment

if it is your first time for anything, you would just pay the fine and be put on some kind of probation for a year or 6 months and after that probation was up, if you didnt violate probation at any time, the offense would be taken off your record.

And many jourisdictions don't even have the probation part if the posession is a misdemeaner. Getting caught with a half-smoked quarter bag in your pocket is quite different than having anything that can be construed as "with intent to distribute". If you bought an ounce but the guy gave it to you in 4 quarters you best dump it all in one bag and get rid of the rest before running around with it...Originally posted by nofx

Give me more information on the situation I might be able to help you. I've gone in front of a judge about 8 times (including yesterday). Got a 705.00 fine reduced to 300.00

I think that won't work...it's a lame excuseand the judge will probably think you have half a brain...well anyway, finding drugs and not calling the police on the spot is stupid...
