404 Traffic
How do I get a default page to pop-up on my server when some one types in a wrong page? Is this done with a CGI script?

Make an .htaccess file in the text editor of your choice with the following code:
ErrorDocument 404 http://www.url-of-your-choice.com Drop the file in your root directory. |

In Unix / Apache you can do it in a
.htaccess file In IIS open Internet Services Manager right click on the Web site you want to set the 404's for and click on properties Then click on the Custonm Error pages Tab and click on 404 error or any of the others you would like to redirect. Then click on edit Properties to change the page to something else. |

Okay, I set up the .htaccess and sent my 404 traffic to my main page...now let's see how many more hits I'll get from all those old search engine listings to pigporn pages that no longer exist.
Thanks guys! It's nice to see that some people are still posting helpful replies instead of some of the BS on the board lately. ------------------ PigPorn TGP Big Penis Webmaster Program - Free Bannerless Hosting! |
