Before everyone trashes you, I wanted to say that Mac is a good box. We even have one here at the office (to view our sites). The bad thing is that they don't display fonts and webpages the same way as PCs, so it's a real disadvantage for doing sites.

The pro is that it's the only thing to use for pre-press design.

yes I have an electric apple somewhere around this office. I did use it for my graphics and it worked well for that and only that. but now it collects dust on a shelf somewhere. I figure I can sell it as an antique someday

but I will take a pc any day now

Yeah Lens, I agree that I am sometimes surprised when I see what a page of mine looks like on a windows box... and I totally abandoned trying to do anything with DHTML. But I still love my Mac! Nothing is more elegant or more intuitive and less prone to alzheimers. Maybe I'm just an old softie... but I grew up on a Mac and can't even imagine buying anything else. Anyhow, it's late and I'm babbling... nite all!

Macs definately have their place in design... but unfortunately for Apple, the world Bill gates bought Dos, and mass marketed it at the right time... Ugh... I love my PC it's IBM compatible.. i think, although i haven't run any ibm programs on it, nor do i have it linked to any IBM Machines... but it's compatible if i ever buy one...

I think the best FTP program for the Mac is Fetch, which is a free download from most boards. If you need help finding it, let me know.

fetch sucks... its oldskool but it sucks. like i said,
"Wow, blows Fetch out of the water!"
I will never go back! I had to conect using a port which Fetch does not allow, but Transmit does. This product has so much information that users like me like to know. Graphic interface is easy to use - no more dragging from desktop into the app. It's all right there - an easy left to right interface. You can set up multiple connections in a favorite list - no more retyping the info every time you connect. I haven't used it enough to comment on the stability, but suspect it will be fine.

this link will download the PPC version of TRANSMIT... the most powerfull MAC FTP tool http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0...07-110-1400062

Hey Fucker, maybe I'll give Transmit a try. You may have been using an ancient version of Fetch, tho, 'cause the version I use supports most of the features you mention.

The way MACs is a big selling point you are starting to see with PC makers now too... this is trend that well will see more and more or... once again MAC was jsut slightly ahead of their time.... For the record I'm a unix geek so prefer SUN over intel or MAC

Nothing wrong with Macs. They are still some of the best graphics workstations out there. But since I am an SMP freak (loves dual processor machines) I have to stick to Windows NT, 2000 or Linux.
