I'd like more quality affiliates...

It sucks that out of the whole webmaster market, it seems like only 10% of the webmasters in the world can manage to send more than 10 hits a day.

We are about to start a 1k a month random giveaway promotion to current affilaites, plus we are also about to head into the MGP market with FHVG's. But it seems promotions like the first one, random cash, seem to attract the people that produce absolutely nothing.

10% may be even a bit high in all honesty.

Jayman:

We know your plight well. Seems like contests draw out every so-called webmaster in the universe and then they do diddly to promote you. We've found, though, that taking a couple extra steps tend to trim teh fat, so to speak.

1) Screen affiliates (if you don't already) as they join. Ensure that they at least have an operational site, that the site belongs to them and they are in legal compliance. Alot of you will scoff at this, but with regs as they are, sponsors are being held responsible for their affiliate's marketing methods. This means if affiliate A spams, fails to display 2257 info or has shady keywords (lolita, etc) you could (and probably would) feel some processing strain or even legal grief as a result.

2) Get to know your affiliates (I think someone said "its all in the contacts), stay in touch with them and make sure they have all they need to promote you.

3) Increase commission (if you've the budget, of course) for those higher performing affiliates. This may (has in some instances) increased the incentive for affiliates to work harder.

4) Drop the dead weight. Make a provisioin in the agreement for your affiliate program that states they must send x amount of traffic to remain active and remove those below this level. Perhaps send an email upon removal that entices them to rejoin when they are in a better position to promote your program.

I'm sure alot of you already know this or have tried at least one if not all of the above; including Jayman. BUt I thought I'd throw these out there in case there is something in there you haven't considered yet.

Good luck getting those lazy suckers to perform!

Wow. Taboo Gal has some great thoughts.

On the other side of the coin, (and this is not directed at you jayman as I've not seen your programs).. there are a lot of incomplete programs out there. And webmasters who may not know their programs are hard to work with.

When you enroll in a program and get ready to start promoting, it sucks to find that it takes days to get your login. It's easier to move on to the next program when you've budgeted time and can't get the materials.

There's an awesome program out there who's linking codes for all their sites go directly to a 404 page. Since they are on CCbill, it's pretty easy to figure out how to link correctly, but that's a reason why they probably aren't seeing much traffic or their partners giving up sending traffic.

The worst is amateur style programs who don't put their codes on their webmaster page. They do a half ass job at getting their banners and material out there so you have to dig around in CCbill to find what you need. I think both sides can always strive to be better.

I agree with Taboo Gal and Jayman too. Just tossing in an extra and wish you luck with your new program!

no offense, but i think some of those are the worst ideas ever. hes talking about getting good quality affiliates. deleting non active affiliates doesnt help that, it can only hurt. a few of the programs that i'm promoting right now that i send signups to on a daily basis i've been signed up with them for over a year, and didnt start promoting them until now. if when i wanted to promote them i found that they deleted my account no way in hell would i sign up again, i would find a different sponsor.

From someone on the other side, I signed up with around 35 affiliate programs when I first got into the adult biz, and there's no way I could promote all of them.

Over time I plan to give them all a go, but I'm still small time. Give it a while, I certainly plan to be a hard working webmaster, but I can't just start sending you tons of quality traffic over night.

Thanks to the two affiliate programs who actually contacted me to see if I needed help when I didn't send any traffic, they're the ones that now stick in my mind.

You could always return AF to the old days when they only had 100 affiliates

Non active affiliates - they are potential "working masters"
It's not seems to me the right way to remove them , maybe a little try to interest them with something special or new will make them work!

Am i right , what do you think ?

Why not consider building up your inhouse sales team rather than depending so much on affiliates? Just a thought to consider...

Good idea...

It is sad how many new affiliates don't send any traffic. But that's the nature of the biz... there's alot of programs i've signed up for, but haven't got around to promoting yet.

If you want more of your affilaites to promote your sites show them what you have, show the samples of your hosted galleries and some sample thumbs of your content, I get so fucking tired of having to sign up to a program to see what is available in the way of marketing only to find they have shit galleries and content.

Instead of linking what you have for promo to the signup form, link to samples of what you have and Im sure you will get a much better ratio
