Look at how polluted The Nile River is (pic)

This NASA Terra satelllite image shows a true-color image of the The Nile River Delta. Ten African countries sharing the River Nile met in Uganda to discuss a legal framework that would replace colonial laws that give Egypt a preferential use of the river's resources, officials said.(AFP/NASA/File)

I've been to Egypt and the Nile really is a stinking slude covered waterway.. whats really sad is you see the poor people around still using the water for various things.

What's real nice is seeing how it looks as it flows into a bigger water source.

I crossed the Nile in Luxor in '91, it was a very dark green and when the motor started and churned the water you got a snoot full of shit.

Not a pleasant trip.

And how many of you have seen other major water ways? Come on that is no where as near as bad as some of the others I have seen in the past.

Such as? It smelt like an open sewer and there was like an inch thick layer of crud across the top.

That organic slush you are all so grossed out about has been feeding major cities as far as Rome for thousands of years, some people are so clueless.

what about the ganges river?

"On my few days visit to this city, I have seen enough dead bodies to cover those I have seen in my entire life. I saw a few floating on the river while I was taking a boat ride, and a few on the cremation ceremony"

http://www.angelfire.com/nt/nadiatra...a_Varanasi.htm

and yeah, that female chatbot is hot

The people living next to it haven't done anything. It's industry that has to start taking care of it.

I heard that the Savannah River in GA is one of the worsts.

Just heard last week that the Colorado River is one of the dirtiest. There is chromium 9 in the Colorado River. Same thing that, that Julia Roberts Movie Erin Brockovich was about.

I'm still trying to figure out what you people are talking about. From the picture, you wouldn't know there was any pollution. It probably looks the same in that picture today as it would have 2000 years ago if taking such a picture was possible.

The nile has always been green. One of it's sources, the white nile, starts at Lake Victoria, has always been green. The Blue nile is obviously.. blue.

The area at the end is called the delta, and is basically marshlands, and always has been. It is litterred with small islands. That's how the Nile has always been.

oh my, if that were so, tha people living in that area who only depend on the water that the said river could give would be much affected, this river might not be a big help to them now bu a big threat to their health and life if they will continue using it even it was contaminated

The worst satellite shot of environmental damage I saw was of the clear cutting of forests in Madagascar. The orangey brown color of the soil was totally spilling into the oceans as there was no trees to hold the soil in place so it would just spill into and choke the river systems and spill into the ocean.
