$250 Design Contest - Something Totally Different & Fun

This one's not industry related, but then again neither are the countless Britney Spears threads...

I recently purchased a Phillips iPronto universal remote which can be totally customized. I have programmed it to access my CD collection via the house music system, however my graphics skills are totally lacking.

What I need is a kickass layout that fits the following criteria.

. Overall size (must be EXACT): 583 wide, 468 tall
. Place holders for CD images: exactly 100 by 100 pixels (you can do any number of place holders, whatever fits your layout best)
. Text "CD Collection" must be shown somwhere, size/placement/font per your design
. On/Off buttons: any sizes and placement
. Volume up/down buttons: any sizes and placement
. Next/Prev Track buttons: any sizes and placement
. Prev/Next Page buttons: any sizes and placement
. Search button, a button indicating an actual search of the cd collection, not seek on the CD player (not shown in sample but needed, any size/placement)
. Mute button (not shown in sample but needed, any size/placement)
. Pause button (not shown in sample but needed, any size/placement)
. Exit button (not shown in sample but needed, any size/placement)

All of these buttons can be graphical or text or both, it depends on the layout and what u think looks best. The sample is only given as a concept, nothing needs to adhere to it (except the 100x100 CD image sizes)

I am very open to how it will look visually. It can be clean and techincal, mechanical looking, futuristic, psychadelic, etc.

The $250 prize will be awarded to one winner and can be sent via paypal, epassporte, or check.

The winner will be chosen on June 10th, 2004.

Sample:

Any questions, just ask. I'm sure there's something I forgot somewhere.

That looks like a lot of work for a "chance" to win.

Also, if $250 is too low, throw some #s out, I'm flexible

It's really just a one image design tho.

I am preparing an entry for this contest, although I have a few questions...

The first being, what is the display medium for your CD collection?

Is it a LCD on a smaller HTPC? Or is it a larger display with the CD collection appearing in an application window?

Typically how far back from the display will you be using the iPronto to navigate your CD collection?

What is the CD collection coded in? Can there be different graphics for such items as the Mute/Pause/Etc buttons to indicate different selection states?

I contacted you via ICQ but you were likely occupied with other matters. My ICQ is 214167687.

For what it's worth I think $250 is a reasonable prize amount for this type of contest. I look forward to participating.

See, I knew I would forget some stuff

It is a larger hand held remote. Screen is about 7x5 inches or so and it is run on the full screen size, in my hand, so thats the distance it will be used from also.

It's thier proprietary software and yes, thats something very important I forgot...

There are non-pressed and a pressed states for the buttons, so a design with both these stats would obvisouly be at an advantage to one without 2 states. The "pressed" state is shown for a brief period of time when u press the button (somewhat obvious, but I just wanted to be clear).

I didn't see your icq. I always have icq problems, I will shoot you one when I wake up for the day in a few hours tho

Thanks

Cool. You got the concept down, but I'm looking for something a bit more involved/fancy like the really nice winamp skins you see.

Also, by concept I mean the general idea, not that look specifically.

Thanks for giving it a shot tho.

Thats funny, saying you can do better but not backing it up right away. Why not just show that you are better instead of saying you might try it when you have time geeeez

Show us what you got design guru

Very nice Mind.

I think $250 is too low for a *chance* to have my design chosen. I have designed MANY GUI's and love that kind of work...no time for that money though. Good luck to all!

thanks, very nice work there too. While $250 isn't a lot - i look at these contest as a showcase of my talents - so in a way its simply advertizing which at the same time could give some pocket money.

Apparently there is a conspiracy going on critizing my and others work - without backin' up their claims.

If you dont have anything constructive to say - or if your not able to show better work of your own - STFU!
