A tornado touched down in my neighborhood last night

My house sustained 8k damage minimum. I need a new roof and an oak tree 3' diameter at the base took out a 20-25' section of my fence. All my patio furniture was in the pool along with limbs and debris. My deck ceiling fan is ripped to shit and my yard is full oftwigs, sticks, leaves, debris and roofing shingles. My greenhouse is bowed inward on the sides due to pressure I guess.

Insurance adjuster coming in the next 48 hours...

Wow, thank goodness your family & yourself are alright. Material things can always be replaced whereas a life cannot.

thanks, living through a new roofing is not pleasant with 4 barking dogs and banging hammers overhead..trying to work at home is impossible. My last house had the roof replaced, it was hell on earth for a week. The roofing fuckers left bits of shingle, roofing tacks and cigarette butts all over my yard. What a pain to clena all that from the lawn and landscaping..I dread it.

the roof was only 5 years old..oh well..im just glad no one was hurt..but it did scare the bejesus out of me..I got everyone into an interior hallway ..

Where are you at? I'm in central IL. We have storms blow by all the time. My city is in a valley and everything goes right around us. We haven't had one in city limits in over 40 years.

Sorry to hear about your house

Yeah friggen insist they put you up in a hotel while the roofing repairs go on or you will go insane.

Do not just take their offer make sure they have more than one contractor look everything over.

READ EVERYTHING TWICE AT LEAST.

I was an adjuster for a while.

Make a "contents" list if any personal items were damaged.
Point out all damage you know of, the adjuster may miss things if he/she is in a hurry.

If your roof was fairly new point out the year/type of shingle.

Also do an entire walk through of your property, even if your fence or mailbox is dinged it can be replaced.

Take pictures of items that may not show up a week later.

there is a ton more , those are a few basics.

Also be nice to the adjuster..
