Probably not....but if you get it shipped by USPS you won't have to pay the brokeage fees UPS charges.

if you are purchasing it, legally you would have to pay duty on it.
you could always get it shipped to a northern US border address and then drive down, hide it in you car and try to sneak it back into Canada. I DO NOT ADVISE THAT THOUGH...

If you send it as a gift and with a very low value you might get it thru without paying tax... but that's fraud and if they get you you're fucked. Too risky.

You sure can...depending on whether you "own" the item.

Fall Fedex and issue a pick up tag. Tell them you have something you own in the US and that they're returning it to you. You should NOT have to pay tax on something you already owned and paid tax on.

However, if you're buying this then you're SOL.

there will be the GST plus there could also be the provincial tax, depends what province you live in. and it will be based on the conversion from US$ to Can$

if buying from a supplier or store in the USA

have them ship it 2 someone in the USA, then have that person ship your gift or what ever.

have it shipped as a gift so as to not incur commercial brokerage fees. Since it's uses, attach a low, but reasonable value to it.
NEVER use UPS. They make it easy for the us seller, but the Canadian purchaser gets heavily dinged for their 'services'.

All you should pay is, the tax on the item cost. To aviod brokerage fees, you need to clear the item yourself instead of letting the shipping company do it.

There is a lot of bad advice in this thread. Pay the 7% on the ACTUAL amount that you paid for the product. If you screw over CCRA and you get caught, they have a very long memory.

I bought something through Ebay once and the seller shipped it as a gift and I didn't have to pay anything. I never asked him to do that, he just did. Other things I've bought from the U.S. have cost almost as much in brokerage fees as their purchase price. Depends on the item I guess.

When you're dealing with something as expensive as a projector just do it the right way and pay the fees. No sense in getting fucked over.
