whats the largest/ most powerful wi-fi antenna you could possibly obtain and what is the range on it you think?

...i bet the government has sick ones...right?

I would expect 7 miles is the max..after 7 miles the curve of the earth comes into play.

Thats why No radar decteor can go more then 7 miles ;-)

that's what i was getting at ... but would it be possible to set one up in your house that could by itself reach a long distance...you'd need an amplifier or whatever attatched to it i suppose...but im getting there.

We got a pair of AN-50's from Redline - they can do up to 50 miles with rates of 72mbps. They're expensive buggers - but if you truely are looking for long distance range in Wi-Fi, redline is the way to go.

Lots of business needs for wireless - it's cheaper than fiber, and in remote areas where high speed may not be available, you can drop down a T1 and some WiFi antenna's and start offering it yourself.
