:mad Spyware Programs Don't Work

I have tried practically every one out there.I run CWShredder and it finds this prosearching scumware but the shit comes back the next day.I have spybot, spy sweeper,BPS,ad aware, spy ware blaster.Although they find traces they can't get rid of the shit.
Can anyone suggest a program that actually works?
My only other option is to format c but that is the last resort

Yea for some of the more shady shit I had to turn off system restore, run the adaware shit (adaware, spybot, cswshredder), then run my antivirus, then turn back on system restore. I think one of the problems with the real shady shit is that it lodges in teh system restore files too.

Yeah I had to turn of restore, boot in some weird safe mode that only loaded bare basics. Then run misc stuff. It was harsh.

I don't think you got it. Try turning off restore and then running the stuff to remove, adaware, antivirus shit etc..

Is that a program or do you mean remove the items in the registry? I don't like touching that cause I wind up screwing things up

I always turn system restore off on XP. I can imagine some of the more intelligent spyware using that to reinfect you time after time.

THIS WILL WORK. Has fixed many a heavily infected computer for me, but it takes three reboots. Good luck.

AWARE VERSION 5.7 is obsolete. You need to uninstall it.

Do this:

Uninstall the oudated version of Adaware.

Then go here http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ and download Adaware 6

Install the program and launch it.

I strongly recommend that you read the help file to familiarize yourself with the program.

Before running the scan look at the top of the main window and you will see a Gear Icon. This is where you configure the settings. Click on that and then in the next window that pops up click on the "Scanning" tab on the left side. Under "Drives and Folders" put a check by "Scan within archives" and below that under "Memory and Registry" put a check by all the options there.
The click on the "Tweak" tab and under "Scanning engine" put a check by "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ...........then......under "Cleaning engine" put a ckeck by "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot" then click "Proceed"

I would also recommend that in the "Tweak" section there under "Web Update Settings" that you put a check by "Automatically look for updated reference files upon start" and "Always back up reference file before updating". This way it will automatically check for updates before you scan.

Next in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on "Check for updates now" and get the latest referencefiles.
After getting the latest referencefiles you are ready to scan.

Click "Start" and in the next window make sure "Active in depth scanning" is checked then click "Next" and the scan will begin.

When it is finished let it fix everything it finds.

Restart your computer.

Next go here http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?...p;page=download and download Spybot.

Install the program and launch it.

Before scanning press "Online" and "Search for Updates" .

Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click "Check for Problems" and when the scan is finished let Spybot fix/remove all it finds.

Restart your computer.

Finally do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijachthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix if there is anything left.

Google for "HiJack This" I use it when cleaning clients computers. I am far from a computer wizz but its not very hard to see what belongs and what doesn't after the scan. It backs up the files just in case you fuck up as well.

Run an up to date antivirus first. There is a popular virus that has infected a lot of systems that downloads malware/spyware for ya. Could be why they keep coming back!

Exactly right. System restore tends to "back up" some virus-infected files, and it was pissing me off so much I disabled it completely and installed Norton Utilies, which comes with the Go-Back feature. Go-Back sets restore points for you, and the last time I got hit with some sort of scumware I simply activated Go-Back, set it to take my system back a day, clicked "OK" and bam...... my computer was back to the way it was before the scumware shit infected it.

I tried several anti-spyware programs, a few came highly recommended. None would rid my computer of what had infected it. Go-Back saved my bacon, I'm sure it will do the same for you. The only problem is, if you don't already have it on your computer are working, it's not much good to you to solve your present situation.

Go back does work very good but it only restores it back 3 days or so..I guess finding the problem right away and restoring it back is the key. I'll try all the suggestions and hopefully it will work..it is so damn frustrating cause my IE crashes all the time and I get virtual memory errors

Another way you could get rid of the prosearching bullshit is to read thier site... http://prosearching.com/help.html#uninstall

From their site

How do I uninstall one of your software products?

There are several methods available to you should you wish to uninstall any of our software products you had previously chosen to install:

- You can go to your Start Menu--Control Panel, then choose the 'Add / Remove Programs' option. Depending on which version of the software you have installed locate 'Lop.com' or 'LOP SEARCH' or 'Window Searching' or ?'Window Active' or "Browser Enhancer" or "Ultimate Browser Enhancer" from the menu to run the uninstaller.

- Depending on your version You may also be able to locate a globe type icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (near the clock), right click on it then click Menu. From the main menu you will see a help button on the top right hand corner. Click the help button then choose 'uninstall'.

- Additionally a separate universal uninstall program may be downloaded here

- If you are still having problems please email [email protected] for assistance.

Best of luck with that,

Jerms

Turn off system restore, turn off windows messenger service, reboot your computer holding F8 to enter safe mode. once in safe mode run all your spyware removal and virus removal programs. Then restart and see whatcha get. My sister was having the same problem with the programs coming back. once removal process was repeated in safe mode all was fixed.
