A low end dedicated server 700 Mhz +, 256 Mb ram + , only 50 GB data transfer per month 700 MB - 1 GB diskspace

Web server - Go BSD or Linux and skip the Microsoft crap.
If your stuck on it being a MS machine, 2003 by far. Please don't tell me you need FrontPage. |

Windows Machines are very useful, for exmaple if you want to run a MS Project Server.

Why would you want windows over linux or bsd?
The one major drawback i can think of is no htaccess... |
