Site updating frequency?

Hey all, I run a personal/cam/paysite with a few hundred members. I try to just do my own thing and enjoy it, not worry about making as much money as possible, but I was wondering how members feel about how often a site is updated.

Many of the members are very loyal... they don't really care even if updates were occasional. But would I be making a big difference if I found a way to put some new little thing up on say a daily basis? What are other ways to keep people checking in to the site more often (think about the lifecam/voyeur niche, not just random porn)? I'm trying to think of other ways to let people into my life.

Try to give the impression you update all the time (scripting, randomising stuff) And try to at least type a few lines of text every day Updates in the form of pics/vids aren't all that important. Maybe every 2 or 3 days.

i would suggest making an update schedule that members can see, something like:

"i update my member area every monday, wednesday, and something special for fridays!"

even if you have extra stuff to post, save it for those days. members like a stable routine. three times per week is plenty for your niche, and really posting something special on fridays works well (ie: video clips).

do you have a journal/blog? if so update that a little every day if you can, or at least every other day.

hope this helps. i've experimented on my own sites for years and this formula worked very well. keeping the "routine" aspect in play is the key, the "loyal fans" fit it into their personal lives and rely on it.

Good tips, thanks. Yeah I have a journal, plus pretty active forums, etc. I don't want it to be a situation where if I need a few days away, I stress about it. But I do think I need to be a bit more regular.

Do a quite large content update monthly, and use the Journal / Diaries and update them twice a week - has worked for me

in those cases i would do a double update right before and say "i'll be gone for a few days so enjoy this double update, i'll return to the normal update schedule when i get back."

i can't stress enough how well a set update schedule works, it's like making romantic little dates.
