WTF somebody stole my identity ???
I applied for some credit margin at my bank ...
I have been with them for years and have never had a late credit card payment or ANYTHING close to that ... They don't call me for 3 weeks after so I call today... They say they got a unpaid credit card complaint and a insurance complaint of a compagny I don't know . WTF is going on ... I really dunno what to do really ... the lady told me to chill out (it MIGHT have been an error) but I've never had any credit problems and always took care of everything . |

I was watching some documentary last night about a serial killer who stole people's identities.
One guy for years had the IRS on his back and he kept trying to tell them he never worked for all of these other companies..he was in Louisiana and these companies were all out of state. Anyway after like 5 or 6 years of this the guy has a heart attack and he attributed a lot of it to stress dealing with all of this. I don't know the final outcome as I fell asleep...LOL But good luck we live in strange times and some bad people out there are truly making life a shit storm for some. |

First: Ask your bank manager (not the rep you dealt with) for a letter describing the reason either of the refusal or the delay. You want it on paper. Second: Contact Equifax immediately - you can get it online for a charge or write them for a copy of your credit report http://www.equifax.com/EFX_Canada/co...nreport_e.html <---Start there - if you want it online. There should be a link with the address to send an official request - and send it registered with CanadaPost. Third: Once you get your report - go through every bit and piece that is written on it. If there are loans on there that aren't/weren't yours, get that cleared up. Make sure you keep a copy of this & report it if it's fraud - be prepared if the government claims you've made income in other jobs that you haven't done. The other thing is depending on the amounts of the loans/credit cards/jobs they have taken - you may find yourself with a seizure and that won't be something you want to CHILL about. Once it's cleared - make sure the information is relayed to Equifax or you will find yourself with R9 references for the next 7 years - which means - no new cards, no new mortgage, no new anything until that time passes.

I would look into the asshat that just ripped you and your friend off on a website.....does not mean that they did it but its a posibility.
I just went through a similar problem....and our system was hacked and hacked bad...I feel it could be the same person that ripped us and many others off too...can't prove it, but he and his worthless fuck company are vindictive and would do anything to get even with anyone that messes with them. [it just keeps me on target to warn newbies about them...and when they loose money, it's good...as I have said I will always be around to warn people about them and we all know who this worthless individual is]. We have corrected the problem...changed bank accounts..ect,ect to prevent any futher damage. |

I got online report for my CCs . Nothing was taken . I don't use them much honestly . I load them and unload them just to build better credit so it's kinda easy to see . Nothing wrong with them .

sometimes it amazes me the amount of people, in cluding my family, that have no idea how bad identity theft can get
identity theft does not mean someone stole a credit card from your wallet and started charging...identity theft means someone actually used your social security # and other part of your life and opened new accounts (usually by mail or internet) and started a new life parallel to yours.....and the only way to know is by checking your credit report on a consistant basis |

Whatever your rep is telling you may be right, however it is affected you right now. If you don't straighten it out, they won't. Best be advised then be very sorry about it later. Trying to prove you are who you are and you didn't do what the other did is going to be very difficult in a year or two when you haven't corrected it and they may have bought a really nice expensive furniture or electronics (using your credentials) and moved somewhere in South America. Trust me - don't wait a week. Your bank was negligent in not advising you sooner that you didn't qualify for the reasons on your credit bureau. Bringing up your credit score (even after you clear up the mistaken identity or blatent fraud) is going to be a bitch. Trust me on this. If we didn't have a lawyer up everyone's ass to get the fucking thing back to the time before the fraud - nobody would get it done. BTW - Equifax is in Canada......if there isn't one in Toronto (I'd be surprised) Get the address in Montreal on Jean-Talon street.

The other thing is that they may have approved you for the condo because the qualifications when buying property (or the ratios required for mortgages) is different for the loans. The person may have been making good payments for awhile too - now they decided they'd load up the credit and get the fuck out leaving you with the 'bad rep'.

You got lucky.
I went into the bank about a month ago to apply for a line of credit just for the hell of it. I wanted to see how much I could get ;) Well I gave the rep all my info and he pulled up my credit report and it was TERRIBLE. Turns out there was two listings for my name (very uncommon last name) and the first one he pulled up was about as bad as it could possibly be. Bankrupt 3 times etc etc. Luckily it was seperate from MY record and he was able to tell who was who. In my case it seems to have just been a computer screwup and not identify theft, but it definately had me worried for that 5-10 minutes.
