Punk, I think.

INDK 05-27-2004 07:02 PM

Punk all the fucking way! There are way too many bands to list... I'll name a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

Leftover Crack
Choking Victim
INDK
Morning Glory

Raised Fist
The (International) Noise Conspiracy
Youth Brigade

SNFU

Did anyone mention Offspring? They used to be good.

Ignite
At The Drive-In
Against Me!

NOFX (If you don't like these guys, you're probably not punk)
Vision

As for "rap"... mainstream rap is bullshit. Period. Bling-bling, blah blah blah. There is some good lesser-known stuff that isn't worth naming. Just throw out your rap CDs and buy punk.

If you want to know what else is good, checkout my list of albums: http://octo.sytes.net:81/albums.php

That's a very interesting statement. I think that most of the music that sounds punk these days isn't totally punk. Refused is subversive by being one of the few, if not the only, Marxist/Anarchist bands around (they've broken up, but they are still relatively new.) Bands like Exploited and Casualties shout "Anarchy!" like 50 times in every chorus, yet these guys believe that punk is measured according to the size of your mohawk.

Leftover Crack and Choking Victim are bands I'd definitely recommend if you want something with a provocative message in the lyrics.

heheeh, we still had a good time that night, hope you are coming over this summer, we will have a blast, beleive me!

shermo 05-28-2004 01:02 AM

I can listen to everything...However, if I have to pick from the 2, Punk is my choice. I've been listening to a lot of Op Ivy, DK, Sex Pistols, Circle Jerks, Old Bad Religion, The Exploited, etc. lately. I appreciate different parts of the music through different periods. Love or hate the new bands, Travis Barker from Blink 182 is one of the quickest/most in control drummers I've listened to lately.

With that being said... WHEN'S THE PATY!?!? :glugglug

Thank you for mentioning Ian Dury. My hubby wrote a song for him back in the day and right up until he died he still remembered him.

Have I missed a mention of the dammed? Jet Boy Jet Girl is one of my all time fave songs.

Nice, Ian dury was something and brought alot to punk rock, this was great music, its not like Exploited, ok I like GG Allin, but this guy was unique and true, WYSIWYG.

How come he came accross with Ian Dury and what song did he wrote, what's is name?
