Lasik at 20/20 at 10 days

If I'd have known it was this easy I would have done it years ago.

11 days ago I was -5.3 in my left and -4.5 in my right.

I had my surgery on April 2nd. The day after I was reading 20/30. Today, with both eyes I can read the 20/20 line. Individually my right eye is 20/20 and my left is about 20/30 or so. My left eye is a bit drier than my right. Doc put collogen plugs in my lower tear ducts to help keep my tears in my eyes longer. The plugs absorb over a 2 week period.

He said by my next visit at 30 months I'll likely be 20/15. Although the nurse there said it might be a good thing if my left eye stayed a bit nearsighted. Might mean the difference between eventually needing reading glasses or not.

Also.. I am fully convinced that because I paid extra for the Wavefront Customvue technology, I'm not having to deal with the night vision problems of halos, etc.

i had RK done years ago, before the lasik stuff. wish i had waited, but then again who knows what tomorrow's technology will be. im not sure my vision, its not 20/20, and i have halos and stuff at night, around certain lettering (light on dark) etc... but it was worth it over all to not have to wear glasses.

congrats on yours pk

Just south of Seattle, WA. I'm lucky that there's a vision surgery center (not lasik only) run by a Mayo Clinic trained doc that's even got a few patents on surgery-related Lasik procedures.

Not at all. Whatever they use for numbing drops these days really does the trick. Used the same drops to put the plugs in my tear duct today.

Yes very awake. On valium, but awake. The woman who went before me said she was the biggest wimp there is and she came out surprised at how simple it was.

I'm kicking myself for waiting so long.

I had lasik last september. I went from 20/200 (with both eyes) to 20/20.

They are only 20/25 by themselves but I read my alarm clock when I wake up now.... what more do you need out of life.

There is a Doctor Burger that travels back and forth between Ohio and Indiana that has performed the surgery 40,000 times. Get him if you live near by.

Yea each eye takes 3 minutes and it hurts about half that time but you can deal with it. Its kinda intense, I burst a blood vessle in an eye jsut by straining. No pain at all after though

BTW if Nikki Nevada wears contacts you should come see Dr. Burger and stay at my house while you're here.

The laser was on my right eye for 45 seconds.. left eye for 25. I never felt a thing. Some people say that afterward it feels like there's an eyelash in their eye or something. They sent me home with a vial of the numbing drops to use the first day if I needed them, but I didn't.

My husband was reminding me this morning that he'd like to experience seeing things clearly in his lifetime. I should get him an appointment - he never wears glasses so he has really never experienced seeing 'clearly'.

I know an optometrist personally . She told me that eye surgery works well for most people but the vision start going down after 4-5 years and they restart wearing glasses after a while . Unless you got real good $, you better stick with the glasses or the lens.

I did tons of reading and researching before finally having surgery. Lasik corrects vision so that you see well far away for the rest of your life. What it can not do is prevent the normal changes of the eye due to aging. Most people as they get older... 40s, 50s, etc.. need correction for close up things. Those who already wear glasses end up with bifocals. All material on the subject will tell you that you'll likely need reading glasses at some point in your lifetime, but that you won't need glasses to drive, watch tv or a movie, etc.

I've talked to tons of people who've had all versions of corrective vision surgery. Only one person out of at least 50 needed a 'touch up' about 7 years. And that was now 10 years ago.

I go Thursday to have my eyes checked one last time and then I go on the 30th to have my lasik.

I will be SO fucking glad to be done with contacts and glasses.
I can get drunk and pass out and not wake up with my contacts stuck to the back of my eyeballs.

I don't believe that and it doesnt matter to me because my $2300 included an unsurance policy so that if my vision ever degrades I can have teh surgery as many times as need in the future for free. Best $2300 ever.

PK - How much was yours with the wave front.
Last time I checked it was 2K an eye here.

Zebra same with you, since you live close to me, what are they hitting you for?

Trust me I am not looking for the cheapest doctor, they have some for $500 an eye here, but I do want to see if 2K an eye is about right....

Nice, congrats!

I had my eyes done with Lasik about two years ago. I have 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. I was -3.75 and -4.5 before surgery. After the surgery I had one eye that was bloodshot for about 10 days due to the pressure on the eye to hold it steady for surgery. I had minor night halos which gradually subsided to virtually nothing.

I am very satisfied with the results. Being free of glasses after a lifetime of fumbling in the dark and being completely blind in the pool is a liberating experience. Glad to hear everything went well with yours.

Last time I checked it was 2K an eye here.

Zebra same with you, since you live close to me, what are they hitting you for?

Trust me I am not looking for the cheapest doctor, they have some for $500 an eye here, but I do want to see if 2K an eye is about right....

Total for both eyes with the wavefront was $3100. Without would have been $2400. There's some a bit cheaper than then want to charge you $400 an eye to use the newer laser that cuts the flap. My doc only uses that so it's already in his price.

All I saw was a fuzzy red dot they told me to look at and a ring of light around it.

I want to have LASIK done so badly, but I have astigmatism in both eyes, as well as having terrible eyesight.

I've heard they can't fix both.
