IMHO - Best input on your third point will come from webmasters at a Gay-oriented board.

Our Directory of Gay Sponsors lists all of the sponsors/promoters who've responded plus just a few more (330 as of the last update). Do a $ search to find those which pay per vs offering % commissions, review each sponsor's offer and content and make your own decisions.
