Evidence Mounts that USA bombed wedding party--up to 45 dead
RAMADI, Iraq -
The videotape obtained Sunday by Associated Press Television News captures a wedding party that survivors say was later attacked by U.S. planes early Wednesday, killing up to 45 people. The dead included the cameraman, Yasser Shawkat Abdullah, hired to record the festivities, which ended Tuesday night before the planes struck. The U.S. military says it is investigating the attack, which took place in the village of Mogr el-Deeb about five miles from the Syrian border, but that all evidence so far indicates the target was a safehouse for foreign fighters. ?There was no evidence of a wedding: no decorations, no musical instruments found, no large quantities of food or leftover servings one would expect from a wedding celebration,? Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt said Saturday. ?There may have been some kind of celebration. Bad people have celebrations, too.? The artifacts of celebration But video that APTN shot a day after the attack shows fragments of musical instruments, pots and pans and brightly colored beddings used for celebrations, scattered around the bombed out tent. The wedding videotape shows a dozen white pickup trucks speeding through the desert escorting the bridal car ? decorated with colorful ribbons. The bride wears a Western-style white bridal dress and veil. The camera captures her stepping out of the car but does not show a close-up. An AP reporter and photographer, who interviewed more than a dozen survivors a day after the bombing, were able to identify many of them on the wedding party video ? which runs for several hours. _________________________________ USA Intelligence in this war is an oxymoron. The wall street journal today featured a story on how the White house relied on the stories told by the ex-exiled Iraqi Ahmed Chalabi, even when there was either no confirmation or even contradictory information being presented by the CIA. Among the jewels of information that was given to the Bush Admin by this guy and then widely desseminated as facts were: --The Saddam had oodles of WMD --That Osama Bin Hiding was going to have access to these weapons --That the USA grounds troops would be welcome with open arms by the Iraqi population --That all former members of the Bathist party (even those with extensive military and law enforcement experience, be excluded from serving in the new police force. (this has led to significant problems in getting security as in many cases these were the only guys who had the experience to do this job) What is even more funny is that after all the bad information that we paid for (The USA had been paying Chalabi $340,000 PER MONTH), the USA was still supporting this guy. That is until last week when Jordan broke a story that Chalabi was also a spy for Iran and was passing USA military information to the "DEATH TO THE INFIDELS in AMERICA" crowd in Tehran. Chalabi also decided that he did not enjoy the support of Iraq's citizens (who mostly view him as a USA paid sellout) so Chalabi decided it was time to come forward with his opinion that the USA war was not good and had corruption in the oil business (which is probably true). Its almost laughable that we can pay this guy millions and then it turns out he is either a spy for the bad guys or stabs us in the back by detailing *gasp* oil corruption. |
