Moore over simplifies things to mislead people into coming to over simplified conclusions. He's no better than Rush Limbaugh. While I don't believe either of them flat out lie, they're still both full of shit.

50 misleading douche bags

Nobody's Second Amendment rights are violated by Moore's movie. He's merely stating his opinion, as is his First Amendment right. Whether Moore's First Amendment rights are being violated with regards to his new movie is another issue altogether.

benc 05-24-2004 04:50 PM

My opinion and said this before, is that the premise of what he tries to prove is offbase.

Someone could write in a few paragrahps what they think the premise of one of his movie is, and I would laugh.

If he was truly some independent thinker, he wouldn't be just a left butt kisser. Democrats and Republicans are both part of the same hypocracy. Trying to prove one better than the other is pointless.

Heres an analogy. He is basically the class clown in grade school. The classmates are the left. He will do things to get as big of reaction from his classmates as possible. He will do what they want to see, he will throw an eraser at the teachers head, and do anything anti-authority to please his classmates. He will give his audiance what they want, and they will love him for it.

I suppose thats the goal of any comedian. But people have made him into something more than a comedian.

So who's he defaming? I think everyone needs to take deep breath, and pull the American flag out of your ass.

Nobody back it up with anything? Sorry to rain on your parade, perhaps you've never researched anything on his movies.

#1 Willie Horton ad in the B.F.C. movie.
There was a caption that reads "Willie Horton released, then kills again", which is untrue.

#2 The scene in the WalMart in Ontario where he made a "no questions asked purchase of ammunition". The Canadian gov't came out and said that scene had to of been fake because a transaction like that would be illegal since you need ID.

he killed thousands of people and is a big asshole for sure BUT: Iraq was the free-est country in the region.

-woman were allowed (even encouraged) to get educated.
-freedom of religion.
-after gulfwar1 it has become one of the most stable countries in the midle east.

He was unbelievably cruel but maybe that's the only way to go when you want to control a country like Iraq.:2 cents:

Voted NO. Such a windbag. He proclaims that he wants the trught out there in his movies, books etc. But he only wants to promote the "truth" from his side of view. Why not come out with a movie that had some Clinton mishaps while in office?
That's all he did while Clinton was in office. See Roger and Me and his show The Awful Truth, he gave Clinton shit all the time. He calls it like he sees it, Bush apologists hate him and call him a lair because he shows them for what they really are.

riosluts 05-25-2004 06:52 AM

umm there should be a "I dont really care" voting option.

One would assume that if you didn't care about the subject you'd have the common sense not to open the thread.

His website is down, clearly another right wing conspiracy. Bastards.

Yes and that quote is absolutely true. Takes a brave man to make a statement like that which we all know is true. Well done Micheal Moore. A guy that stands up for truth.

I've seen Bowling for Columbine and read Stupid White Men. I like both, I like the way he thinks, and I agree with him most of the time. But sometimes he is full of shit too. And he's world aren't much bigger than the US - just like the world of most Americans...

But in a foreigner perspective... I'm positive that the world would be a better place if all Americans were just as stupid as Michael Moore, instead of being mostly as stupid as Bush.

But I'm Brazilian, so what do I know, eh? :winkwink:

Just my :2 cents:

I'm sure Moore would have plenty to say about Iraq.. eg.. How the US (and the rest of the world) knew Saddam was a bully/assasin and for that very reason, the US engaged him to murder the finance minister of Iran on behalf of the US. And also how the US then provided him with weapons to instigate a war against Iran.

The irony was.. Iran had, at that time, a democractically elected government, but that shit opened the doors for extremists to hijack the place - another US fuckup.

I'm sure Moore can catalogue a load of "incidents" and relationships with Saddam and the US goverment - tho I'm sure they last thing they want is to have history quoted back to them :-)

If Moore wants to point fingers at hypocracy - hell, good luck to the guy! :thumbsup It's well-passed time someone had the balls to quit the media bullshit and provoke some healthier thinking. I think that's what some call "democracy" :winkwink:

Malkmus 05-26-2004 09:03 AM

Is there an US site dedicated to popularity polls ?
This poll is very interesting but note enough people voting to have a proper opinion.
Moore does seem to have more people liking him though.

Outside of the USA, Moore has a quite good image but in the States, things seem slightly different since a lot of people seem to struggle to make him look as an asshole.

he doesn't need our help, and I am not voting for Bush either, but Moore is still an asshole

Mishi 06-18-2004 02:52 AM

Michael Moore is a satirist. Satire must be the most misunderstood form of comedy/commetary. Fortunately, most satirists don't care if they're misunderstood - it kind of makes their point(s). Michael Moore is probably laughing equally at the people who love him and the people who hate him.

But...I do think he's starting to believe his own publicity, which will ulitimately be his undoing...in the mean time, I'll laugh along with him.
