Yep..........in six measly days it will have made its money back........and thats not even taking into acct. international release money........which for this will prob make up 60% of the box office..........this may have a chance to hit $1 Billion worldwide if it keeps it up and eclipse Finding Nemo as the top animation of all time...........a remarkable achievement considering only 2 films in HISTORY have eclipsed the billion dollar mark worldwide........"Titanic" and "LOTR: Return of the King"

Shrek 2 did some major ass kicking this weekend

i doubt it stays up that high for long...there are too many good films coming out.

Also, it was good, but not as good as the original.

Instead of there being a good story, with some funny gags along the way...

This one is a weak story that seemed to be created to fit as many gags in from other movies/stories as possible. It had really weak character development.

really IMX? most of what I'm hearing has been just the opposite. also, from what I hear, the cat steals the movie.

I also posted on this board a thread of what movie this summer most GFY members are looking forward to the most........

Shrek 2 wasn't mentioned much.......it was mostly Spidey 2 of course, and surprisingly, the Day After Tomorrow.........so I am surprised that Shrek 2 has done record numbers this weekend......just goes to show you can't beat positive word of mouth talk.

It obviously won't keep that pace with Harry Potter and Garfield coming out soon to grab some of the family maret, but I see it hitting the $400 million mark domestically. It's playing well beyond just families. It's getting people young and old, male and female.

The word of mouth has been tremendous and it's hovering around the 8 mark at imdb.com

Shrek is also all over tv in nearly every commerical with one product or another, so the makers of this film will make a very healthy chunk of change.

Excellent analysis, SykkBoy2

But to hit $400 mil domestically, it will have to have legs, and I have a feeling it will because ppl are giving it very positive reviews. Its great to see that sequels exceeding the original haven't just stopped with the "Lord of the Rings" franchise, is Shrek 2 is indeed better than the first one.

GFY members who have seen it.......post your reviews plz. I gotta decide on what to see coming up soon.
