Open your hosts file and edit it
open notepad
go to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
and open the file hosts.

It should look like:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

If there is anything else below that, delete it. Then you should be able to go and get your virus definitions updated.

Yeah. Friend of mine had that problem. A trojan had modified her hosts file so she couldn't access any antivirus/security websites.

Crafty bastards.

If the creative boy who did "Sasser" was here with me right now, I'd rip off his head and shit down the hole.
I lost about 36 hours of my "free/spare" time to reinstall and update tons of shit, even formating 3 drives due to this shit.
Somehow it and other worms got in, destroying tons of programs and setups, even we automatically reload the programs.

PPL doing this for fun really should be fucked in their own asses with a metal rod.

Free time is the most expensive time. 36 hours down the drain for me, due to some 18 year old german fuck. Give me his head on a plate please.
