Some Interesting Stats
Hi All,
We have a feature of our site called the embeddable webcam viewer located at http://my.anywebcam.com ... over the last 5 months roughly 85,000 sites around the internet have deployed it, there has been roughly 5 million uses of the Java applet and that's garnished us some interesting stats I thought we could share ... We've released a few stats pages on the my.awc site; http://my.anywebcam.com/cammunity_jvm.html This URL shows you the top 100 Java VM's used by all those surfers, and interestingly the MS VM is the leader by an order of magnitude. http://my.anywebcam.com/cammunity_os.html This URL shows you the top 100 Operating Systems used, and shockingly (IMHO) Win 98 is still the 3rd most used OS! At the moment the stats are a cumulative total over the past 5 months but we're going to change that to a monthly roll over set of stats and a total set. We're also planning on adding browser & version tracking. Personally I find these stats useful because it's a very broad user base and helps us better design/develop to what's being used by the masses, hope you find it useful too. |
