do you really think that this tape is a US government fraud?

I'm no fan of GW Bush, but I find it hard to believe that he or any other person in power would fake a tape...The lack of information released by the goverment on this issue is no different than any other : The government does not release information on high profile topics--ever...

There may be some odd things about the tape---but to attribute the oddities to a US goverment consipracy rather than a fucked up copy of a cheaply spliced final of two poor video cameras---?

But by who? And why?

Whoever edited this thing seems to have excised part of Nick's struggle. An edit occurs immediately after his captors knock him down. The audio track, however, is uninterrupted. This explains how a nearly headless man can howl out loud. It also explains the lack of arterial gushing, and the unseen black-to-white mask perpetrator switcheroo.

Those elements were cut out, and the two remaining halves were squeezed together under an intact audio track, with crude but effective results.

This leaves us with a perplexing question: Editing out of the worst of the brutality seems suspicious and counter-productive. If the terrorists' aim was to induce terror by showing the brutal lengths to which they were willing to go... why hold back? Why remove the most terrifying part? We can speculate, but it's probably futile.

Others have said that Nick Berg appears to be sitting in the same kind of white plastic chair being used by coalition forces in Iraq. Of course, those chairs are made in China, and are thus ubiquitous. But after the fall of Saddam, which came after more than a decade of intensive trade blocking efforts, one of the first things people looted was for furniture. Are such white plastic chairs easily available in Iraq? I don't know, and I'm not about to fly to Iraq to find out.

Other questions remain. Is he wearing standard issue prison silks? It sure looks like it. And some of those Arab terrorists have awfully pink hands, and seem a little overly well fed for insurgents, who you would expect to constantly be on the move.

There are also questions about his two weeks in the custody of Iraqi police, his repeated interrogations by American authorities while there, what he was doing there in the first place, why he was hanging out with an activist Iraqi with ties to the Russian mob and the American neoconservative establishment, whether or not he worked at Abu Ghraib, the FBI interrogation of his parents in the days before he was kidnapped, conflicting government accounts of his time in custody, etc, etc, etc.

As much as I hate to think about what has happen to this man, it is horrible, and I believe it is real, the tape etc. Everyone always has a conspiracy for something done to try and say it was fake. The body was found without a head, and was shipped back to the US. His parents are now suffering from this.

It saddens me and makes butterflies in my tummy

Yes it is very easy to hear the voices. They are clearly American as they have no accients. The "terrorists" sure all hell look like they are very well fed and might even be wearing bullet proof vests. They are quite obviously not who we are led to believe they are -- just watch their body movements -- they can't stand still and look impatient -- reminds you of an American doesn't it? I'm also told that muslims are not supposed to touch their face with their left hand, its considered dirty or something. Well sure enough the second guy from the right touches his face twice with his left hand.

Al-zarquai (however you spell his name) is supposed to have been wounded and possibly have an amputated leg. He seems to have no limp or anythign that would support being wounded. When hes reading through the statement he filps through the papers and doesn't even seem to have them in order. It also looks like he has a gold ring on (forbidden by islam).

Right before the Knife comes (which Nick can't see) he nods and braces himself like he knows hes about to be thrown to the ground (This is the only time he really moves the entire video).

Along with the Iraqi police, US military, and FBI all being involved in this -- its strange to say the least

Who gains from this? Well it does take pressure off the Bush admin as far as the whole prision abuse scandal goes. It enrages the public and provides some justification (for lack of a better word) for the Iraq war -- it shows just how "evil" these "thugs and evil-doers" are. etc etc.


Is it a CIA psy op? Maybe. But even for the CIA this is sloppy work especially with the blatantly obvious American voice(s) heard at the end of the tape.

It raises more questions that answers -- IMHO Berg is dead, he was beheaded but I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't done by insurgents or terrorists. :2 cents:

Bush's secret locked-door meeting with the Republican leadership just hours before the raid on Chalabi's house and the news that he very well might have been SPYING FOR THE FUCKING IRANIANS!!!!!

Yes, we're talking about Ahmed Chalabi, Dick Cheney's close personal friend, and the source of all - ALL!!! - the bogus inteligence that Dubya and co trusted more than the information provided by their own intelligence professionals.

Maybe they had to do a metaphorical "decapitation strike" against Chalabi because they found out his (pale pink) hands are all over the Berg incident.

Maybe that's why Bush had to call a rush meeting behind closed (and locked) doors with Republican lawmakers yesterday, within hours of the raid on Chalabi's place of business.

And maybe that's why, after leaving the meeting, all those Republicans - even Plastic Santorum - looked like they'd just been informed that an asteroid the size of Texas was three days away from destroying the planet.

You never know! It could all be related!
