Thats because if Bush did come out and say apple pie is great you can bet it was because the Apple Growers Association just got done donating a large sum of $$ to his campaign. :1orglaugh

Anyone that does not believe that Catholic school kids got a better education that public school kids, obviously is a public school graduate (or dropout)

what about entrance requirements? that affects it as well.

i went to a catholic school and public schools. they both blow and don't teach you what you need.

Peaches 05-18-2004 10:49 AM

Especially during puberty, having the same sexes in the same classrooms is distracting. If you distract from education, the education will suffer. I thought that was common sense?

Buff 05-18-2004 10:50 AM

An overwhelming majority of you are public "school" graduates (or dropouts); therefore, your opinions about education are trite and invalid.

The best high school in the country, that high school which promotes excellence in all aspects of life for young men, is, of course, an all boys high school. It's located in the deep south and I doubt 10 of you could score high enough on the placement test -- RIGHT NOW -- to meet that criterion for admission.

the primary entrance requirement at my Catholic high school was, can you afford the tuition?

Most people are not homosexuals, therefore most people would be less distracted by having the same sex exclusively in their classrooms.

so you have students with parents who have money. which will lead to lower dropout rates and parents who take a bit more interest in their kids.

it affects the results and skews the data. in other words its meaningless.

you need to compare two similar schools with the only difference being sex segregation and no segregation.

You have some proof of this? Ask anyone that graduated from a gender segregated school if they got a top notch education or not.

Segregating the classrooms and the school are two different things. There is plenty of time for interaction with the opposite sex after you get done with your homework. Trust me

99% of schools in north america blow. so most people wouldn't know a good education if it kicked them in the balls.

considering that we trade a lot with the states yes it is. because if the economy down south isn't good we get hit.

so yes your substandard education system affects us.

it's a private education sector. It should be free to have only- boys or only-girls schools. Nobody forced parents to send their kids to such school. Private sector is an option.

You are making huge presumptions here, primarily that a family with money cares more about their kids than poor families.

How in the hell do you intend on setting up that study group?

87% of statistics posted on GFY are pulled out of the posters ass, however, going on your theory that 99% of schools in North America blow (which of course would include Mexico and Canada, so I am sure it does skew the results a little) 99% of the schools in North America are coed.

Thank you for proving our point.

Smarter students with poor social skills. Social/Survival Skills will get you a lot further in life than an IQ or SAT score.

Yeah, social skills will find the cure for AIDs, whereas academic skills helps spread AIDs. Oh wait....

Okay, so using your logic, you should be glad that we are considering going to gender segregated classrooms, because, obviously the current system doesn't work (according to you).

While we are at it, perhaps Canada should criminalize marijuana, and raise the drinking age, and cut the alcohol percentage in their beer becaue it is obviously having a negative effect on the thought process of the average Canadian, and since we have to trade with you it effects our economy when we have to deal with a bunch of drunk, stoned, Socialists.

In fact, let's get rid of the Socialist crap all together, it just doesn't work for us, and makes it too difficult to do trade with you.

Yeah. . . . that's the ticket.

i went to public school...one of the best in the country at the time and although i feel i got a great education for what was given, nothing during that high school experience/leaning has benefited me in my adult life (other then diciphering who still feels they need to be part of a clique; cant cut the hs apron strings). some of my college courses were of no benefit to me either (just a waste of my time and MONEY). i mean really, what the hell did i need a 2 credit course (which was by far more difficult then any of my 4 credit courses at that time) in paradigms? that was a required course mind you!

i am a business major and a psych minor and to this day i cannot figure out how that class was suppose to benefit me in the work place; and is to this day it is still a required course.

now had i known about life experience courses in college, i would have taken a few of them and they ARE beneficial to one's education. no where else will you be better educated then out in the world.

book smart is great....if you're gonna be a teacher or full time academic.

take that same book smart person, throw them into the place i used to work and they would get eaten alive because books dont teach you how to survive, they dont teach you how to be slick and they dont teach you common sense.

i agree with education and people should further themselves but our system is and has been lacking for more years then can be counted.

Sorry dear, but please don't judge personal results on the rest of us.

While this may have been your own personal experience, you could have a pretty big problem proving that theory.

I wonder how many serial killers went to private school

Cassie 05-18-2004 11:32 AM

listen if blacks and whites cant be segregated, then gays should not be segrgated from non gays and boys should not be segregated from girls.

next thing you know, the handicapped will be segregated from those who arent and so on down the line.

pay teachers more, make it a safer environment to work in, give students incentives (the list is endless); the QUALITY of education will increase.

this country IS going backwards. before you know it, lights will be banned and we will all have to use candles.
