Fahrenheit 911 (WTF)

I really want to watch this documentary. Michael Moore holds no punches, and I have truly enjoyed his work. Fuck Disney and their double standards!

Watching the news reels here in Mallorca, The fim is a runaway success in Cannes. He is being treated like a superstar.

This movie proves that Bush in fact is the reincarnation of Chucky.

So for the people who dislike Moore -- Do you guys brush off the entire movie as bullshit? I think he brought up alot of serious questions that are never answered in our country.

I enjoyed reading that information, but don't you see that it is written by the right side individual?
There is only so much film left on the cutting room floor, and his commentary is usually on track. My opinion.

The argument is nonsense that because Moore puts his own spin on things, his message can be summarily dismissed. He is doing no more than every politician or indeed anyone who is involved in a discussion or debate. Come to that, supposedly objective news media are selective about what they report and decide the point of view from which their reporting will be done.

The problem for people who do not like what Moore has to say is that some of his questions cannot be shrugged off. Hence the attempts to hide them behind smoke screens of irrelevancies.

I don't consider myself to be even mildly right wing. I'd say i lean a little to the left, to be honest. But even i can look at what actually happened in the bank scene, and what we are shown in the "documentary" and see how manipulative Michael Moore can be.

He makes out that the bank has real guns on show (which they don't), and that you can walk out of the bank within minutes with a gun that they have given to you (which you can't). The reality is quite different.

He's pulled the wool over the eyes of the bleeding hearts, and made a fortune doing so. In a way, he's even worse than the right wing people he mocks. They have a different opinion, but they're not exploiting your ignorance for finnancial gain.

I don't accept that the distortion of the bank scene went too far: the point was surely the innappropriateness of banks offering guns as an incentive to new customers, not the method by which those guns were handed over.

But even if you disagree, you are still falling into the trap of dismissing everything because you disapprove of a particular treatment.

For me the most telling part of Columbine was when comparisons were made between Canada and the US: when questions arose including those as to why Americans live in a state of fear and why so many die as a result of shootings.

Such questions are valid no matter what criticisms can be leveled at Michael Moore because so long as they remain unanswered, there will always be more Columbines. Surely that is something we all want to avoid, no matter what our political views.

The main problem with Moore's movies can be summed up as this. Their premise is offbase, then he uses deceit, etc, in attempts to prove that premise.

Its just propaganda, and hes making big $$$ by using effective techniques to tell sheep what they want to hear.

dude that site is just as full of opposite spin.. the guy behind it is a bit of a nut job - i followed the link to the al franken site where he does a blow by blow detail pulling all the franken "lies" out and here is the first one:

"We were in Los Angeles at an annual publishing hootenanny called the BookExpo America. We were both there to promote our books. Bill was hawking his latest, Living with Herpes, (footnote states: "Actually the real title is Living with Herpes in George Bush's America) while I was promoting (with evident success) the book you are enjoying right now. "

[LIE] - They were both there to 'promote', but - Bill was 'hawking' and Franken was back to 'promoting'. The dishonest use of subtle language helps Franken rewrite history so you see it through Franken-goggles. In reality, the word 'hawking' means 'to peddle goods aggressively, especially by calling out' which is a totally inaccurate description of O'Reilly's behavior during the event as he was not aggressive with his product in the lest bit and called no one out. What O'Reilly was doing was 'promoting', or - 'attempting to sell or popularize by advertising or publicity'.

what a fucking blowhard! I couldn't take a thing this guy says seriously calling franken a liar because he said bill was hawking the book AFTER he said he was there to promote it.. we know he doesn't like the guy... fucking let him say "hawk" after he's said promoting.. anyone actually being able to read enough without moving their lips at the same time knows what he means.
Hes seriously undermined any credibility in my mind.. he's just a right wing quack picking at the successful lefty books giving the right wing sheep something to bleat back to the left wing sheep.

from that bowling for truth site:

In a quick and pithy scene demonizing gun-owners as crazy careless yahoos, Moore shows us news footage of a blind man, Carey McWilliams, shooting at targets. The audience is meant to be shocked that in America, even blind people can get a gun. We are told that despite his being blind, he passed his shooting test - even more scary. This story is presented as if it is self-evidently insane and further proof of our violent "gun culture."

Once again, however, Moore does not tell the whole story. True, the state of North Dakota did issue a permit to McWilliams to carry a concealed weapon. But, he is not totally blind. He is able to distinguish day from night, light from dark.

WHOOPTY FUCKING DOO

oo big bad moore misleads you into thinking the guy is totally blind instead of 99.99% blind.. well FUCK ME.. LET'S STICK HIM IN A CAR AND CUT THE BRAKE FLUID.

lol.. jesus christ. oh my god Mike moore is totally demolished!

This sort of thing just fucks up his case against moore and makes him look like an agenda driven nut.
Moore has plenty of spin in his movies - theres no denying that, but for fucks sake, stick to the issue.

I don't dismiss everything he says. I'm just sick to death of everyone using edited shit they've seen in his films as evidence in debates. It's laughable.

He makes good points, but he'd be so much more credible if he stuck to the facts. Maybe he'd have a real impact, then.

And Bhuto.. i agree. The guy talks some shit, but he also makes some good points. There were only a few of his points that i liked. The one about the bank was what i liked the most.

Love Moore's films, though for a documentary, a lot of the scenes are too staged IMHO. Still funny as hell though, can't wait to see Fahrenheit 911.

The scene in the ban actually happened, I cant believe the sheep blindly believe what is written on the internet. If he told all these lies and considering it was the most successful documentary in the history of film and we live in a world thats lawsuit happy. Not one law suit has been against him. Dont you think if lied about companies they wouldnt of sued him?

it got turned turned down by disney because the bush family has contributed and is contributing a large portion of money to walt disney florida, theres no way that disney would fund a movie that makes them look bad...
