How will you be remembered when you die?

It seems as if many of you define yourselves by what's in your bank account. Sure cash is nice, but it's the person that you are that'll be remembered. Regardless of what you think, we all die with the same amount: A suit/dress, a casket or an urn that contains our ashes. When you pass away, what will people say about you and how will your obituary look? Also, is there a specific picture that you would want used to portray your appearance/personality?

Single white male, jDoG, died at the age of 40 last night, and he wanted it mentioned that he had a millions in his bank account.

There I added the bank account into my obituary. Really, money is what makes the world goes around. And he with the most money wins. That's really all I've cared about my whole life, and probablly will care about. Without money you're nothing and you have nothing. Just my view tho.

The only thing that matters is how much of the world you've seen and how much you've experienced.

Frankly, I don't care how I'm remembered.

Millions in the bank account at death just means that you didn't live your life to the fullest. Having enough money to survive comfortably is VERY important, but leaving too much behind is just insulating the bank's walls for them.

Without money, you're in a tough situation, but I think that it's what you do with your money that defines you. Are you generous? Do you like to have fun with it? Do you treat your friends like kings? Do you provide for your family? Do you use your money to see what the world has to offer? Those are the subcategories of having money that can define a person.

So let's say for instance it was you that was beheaded in Iraq, and the media had to tel the world who you were. You can honestly tell me that you don't give 2 shits how you're represented?

It's sad that so many of you feel so insignificant.

I hate to break this to you, but we are all insignificant.

We are born, live and die in the blink of an eye relatively speaking.

Isn't it about time you started living?

Ask yourself why you haven't started living. If you've lived, then there are people who actually consider you a worthwhile person, including yourself.

Everybody is significant in at least 1 person's eyes... Their own. If you aren't, then you really shouldn't be here.

I've already seen more of the world than 99% of people will EVER see.

Sure I'm significant in my own eyes but I don't fool myself by thinking that I'm more important than anyone else or that it matters what people think of me after I've become worm food.

Don't tell me: you believe in God, right?

You don't have to feel more important than anybody. It's just a good thing to have a few people that love, respect and look up to you. There's nothing wrong with having parents, siblings, wives, husbands, friends, etc who value yoyur life. If you die and nobody cares, than you obviously had no personality, love or respect in your life.

As far as my beliefe in God... What does it matter? I'm not talking about afterlife here.

Let me ask you a question: If you died today, would anybody show emotion or look back at your life in retrospect? I sure hope they would.

I think of those close to me that have passed away everyday. It's not a major concern, but I'd like to know that I've left a mark on those close to me. You have 1 life. Live it to it's fullest, impact as many people as you can, and enjoy yourself. If you can't comprehend people caring about you, then you really ought to do something to get the most out of this life. Who knows. It just may be your only one.

BTW: Who are those dead guys your paying tribute to in your sig?

I can't say that I'm a good person, that I live a sinless life. But to thosewho know me, I want them to remember me as someone whose always been there for them no matter what and that I somehow made a difference in their lives.

I still can't understand your obsession with what people will think of you after you're dead? I hope people care about me during my life but as for what they think of me when I'm dead: WHO FUCKING CARES?! Once you are dead nothing matters anymore... especially what people think of you or even if they think of you.

Once you're dead you're worm food.

As for those guys in my sig, only two are dead. I'm sure they wouldn't have cared what people thought of them after they died because ultimately it doesn't mean shit.

Hell I don't even care what people think of my while I'm alive.

There's no obsession. i'm just wondering what different people have to say. It's slightly humorous that you don't place any importance on yourself after life is done.

I was driving today and I wondered... Would these individuals who are murdered in high priofile cases appreciate how they were represented after death? Is the portrayel of these individuals somewhat accurate?

As I said.. I have no obsession with this. Also, some friends of mine who have passed away are still recognized to this day... Whether it's scholarships, awards, etc... People still care about them and their memories are forever etched into a small part of the world's history.

As far as the Beatles who have passed away... Their artistry is something that they wanted the public to always remember. An artist's being is based on how long the art will last throughout history. John Lennon's legacy lives on to this day, and I'm sure he did what he did so that many generations would be able to hear his words and believe in what he had to say. The same is true with Georgr Harrison...Why do you think he cut that final album before his immenant death? It sure wasn't for the bettering of his health.

Lennon and Harrison did what they did because they were compelled to. You don't write a song hoping that "many generations would be able to hear his words and believe in what he had to say" You write a song because it has to come out -- releasing it is the only way to stay sane.

No great artist creates art hoping the world will remember them because of it. Idiots do that. Great art happens by accident, not by cynical design.

Yes I am generous, I'm a full out good guy. And I help most people I know out. But there are always those friends that love to use, and that's where I cut the limits. I help family out when ever they need help. The only exception is my father, I don't give him a dime!

But other than friends and my father, I'm generous to just about anybody. Hell, I've given homeless people $10-$20 most of the time. If they don't ask for a dime from me, the more I'll give!
