This is why you shouldn't let your kids ride summer carnival rides

Take them to a real amusement park like Six Flags or Disney where there are some safey protocols, not the local county fair where the rides are put together by carnies and local teenagers.

Carnival ride operator arrested after 3-year-old falls

May 16, 2004, 12:44 PM EDT

MANCHESTER, Conn. -- The operator of a carnival ride was drunk when a three-year-old fell off and injured himself, police said.

The boy was on the "Yo-Yo" swing ride around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Coleman Brothers carnival at the Manchester Parkade when he fell from the swing, landing on concrete pavement.

He was taken to the Hartford Hospital, where he was treated for cuts and abrasions and released at 11 p.m.

Ride operator Kenneth Manachio, 34, of Bristol was under the influence of alcohol and uncooperative with investigating officers, police said.

He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment in the first and second degrees, risk of injury to a minor and interfering with police. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Officials shut down the ride pending an investigation.

Gee .. Who'd have ever thought that inbred social retards being paid minimum wage (or less) and working 12+ hours a day could be irresponsible.

Everytime I see people strapping their children in to mall parking lot Ferris wheels, I just snicker and think to myself "Natural Selection".

jesus christ!!!!

those places that setup in parking lots for a week or 2 at a time are not the safest compared to real amusement parks.

on top of that the guy working it is pissed drunk

hope that kid is alright

Damn. I miss the fair. I mean, where would the fun have been if all the carnies weren't drunk running Sizzler too fast...or if there was all kinds of safety precautions on the squeezy old Paratrooper thing spinning up in the trees?

Haha. It is natural selection. It's also just the fair...you have to live a little.

i almost died on a carnival ride last year. it was the ride where it takes about 10 people up in the air and the releases them at any given time and plumets to the ground.

when the guy hit the 'release', we heard a loud a cable snapping and thank god the reserve cable kept us from crashin into the ground. fuck carnies and their rides.

"Mordarsky's death was at least the fifth since 1999 that occurred when a person fell from a ride made by Intamin AG of Switzerland, the manufacturer of the Superman Ride of Steel"
--------

sounds like they need to change manufacturer's

If you see Fiesta shows coming to your town. Don't go! The people that run the rides are usually high or drunk.

I've actually heard some where that rides that are assembled and disassembled on a regular basis are safer. Guess that theory is blown based on this article.
