The Chinese firewall works mostly when it comes to political things. You can't surf all the porn sites but you can still access lots of them. The big problem is when it comes to sites like falungong.org.
U.A.E. has far more effective porn filters.
Just keep a few proxy sites in your favorites folder and use them.

When I was in China I couldn't surf to any of my favorite porn sites from a friend's connection in their apartment, but was able to pull my own site up. When I tried any sort of public connection I wasn't able to get to anything at all (took me almost ten minutes just to load Yahoo mail). I have to say, even though I knew they were tough on porn, I was still surprised when I bought a Penthouse or Hustler in a Hong Kong convenience store (after we got back from the mainland) and it was nearly all bikini photos.
I enjoyed both of my China trips so much that I've considered moving there, but I think it would probably be a *tad* inconvenient to host a site from there. =P

My partners are in China and can access GFY and most porn sites, like others said its mainly politic sites that are not accessible.Comment

The friend that I was visiting said that he would have periods of time where he was limited to very few sites and much of his email was filtered, and then other times he had almost full access. A friend of his would have similar difficulties, but at different times, with a different ISP.

it happen sometimes that they cant access the sites, but its because of their ISP, the connection they have is not very good, but usally the day after they can connect to those sites again and without having to pass through proxy.Comment
