Exact same scam, exactly, that I got for paypal as well. Same wording, same everything. The thing of it is, Ebay and Paypal will never send you anything that says "Dear user" or the like. They always use your real registered name in their correspondences, this statement comes right from the company itself.
I've reported that scam a couple of times now. The scammers always seem to continue operating for some reason though.

That's not really that nice of a scam, Let me throw one example together right here that would steal money and compromise the password as well since I'm bored as hell
Dear valued PayPal Member, As PayPal is growing to be the largest online bank in history, we must continue to expand by advertising on next years Superbowl. Because we couldn't have done this without you, we've randomly selected 150 members to receive this E-Mail offer. The first 25 members to send $250.00 in funds to a specified paypal account will have their First and Last names featured on the commercial! Please continue by accessing our secure website and verifying your login information Paypal.com > Super Bowl Commercial Entry Thank You! Paypal Member Services Sorry for the spelling errors, but yeah, people can be much more creative and attract attention better... especially because that would work with the subject line "You have been selected to appear on PayPal's Superbowl Commercial!" The only thing I hate more than a scammer is uncreative scammers |
