Tech Help Needed (again) - GoFuckYourself.com

Last time I posted about my pc problems I thought it was my hard drive dying - I had a high pitched squealing noise then the pc would shut down, I replaced it with a new hard drive but it's still happening

I have noticed it happens much faster when I'm playing a game or surfing sites with lots of graphics - I'm clueless but could it be a problem with my graphics card and if it is how do I find out and what should I do????

I'm totally crap at this stuff and would love a few pointers in the right direction-

new computers are cheap no reason for a pc to torture u

Probably a bum cooling fan on your graphics card. Open up the case and start a game. Try to pinpoint the general vicinity of the squealing. Once you find it, either get a new graphics card or buy a new fan and put it on there yourself.

I've taken the sides off of the tower and moved it too a very cool part of the room (here in the UK it's pretty chilly!) I'm ashamed to say that I've got no clue which is the graphics card

I can't work out where the squeal is coming from either.

True but I only just bought a new hard drive for her and wondered if there might be a quick fix before I replace her.

Thw graphics card is the area directly... awww, forget it. Best bet? Take it to a shop

The cable from your monitor plugs into the graphics/video card on the back of your computer.

Probably your power supply fan, or power supply going out. Happens a lot, and would cause the system to act up... So replace the power supply and see where that leaves you ;)

probably cooling fans of the cards or cpu needs some cleaning.

The tech guy I've relied on has moved 200 miles away and there is no-one here in this little back of the woods place

The only other place is PC World but they turned in a local guy for doing porn (it was pee sites) and he's doing time now so I'm really wary of going to them so I really would appreciate ANY advice.

Thanks, I've just been on my hands and knees and can see that the monitor plugs into a big red part insid which is right next to what seems to be a fan
