Hiding folders in XP

Anyone know how to hide folders/drives in XP? I need to have access to them, even running programs in the background from them, but when another user is logged in, I don't want them to see or access those folders...

right click on the file and chose hide...
you can make hidden files visible or not in start>settings>options or something like it.

I've tried that, but I don't have that option available to me. Even if I click properties and go to "shared" the make private option is grayed out. I have the drives formatted as NTFS, so I would have thought it would work...

Are you using the NTFS file system or FAT32?

If NTFS, simply remove the "everyone" user account, any logins other than your own, and make sure your account is listed with full rights.

You'll also want to leave Administrator/Administrators and System intact.

I am using NTFS on both of my internal drives...I do have an external one which I have to leave as FAT32, so I can transfer it between other computers not running XP. But I've had the same problems before adding that one.

I have tried being the only account and adding a guest account, but nothing changes. I also formatted, debugged, cleanly formatted with NTFS, and reinstalled and I have the same lack of options.

I'm now to the point of trying add-in software, but I haven't found any that would allow an "on" mode for my username and an "off" mode for anyone else. Anyone know of any good software that would allow me to keep folders open, run programs from protected folders in the background, but forbid other users access to those folders? (this seems entirely possible, since "my hahahahahahahahas" allows this)

Go to micro-shits web site and search the knowledge base.

They have step by step instructions.

And there are quite a few steps.....

Is the folder shared or unshared? Right click on the folder and go to sharing and security...
