how much capital is needed to start a pay site?

my job pays me way more money then I need and a lot keeps going into savings, so I'd probably like to start up a paysite, probably a series of them.

I would only be capable of producing and probably maintaining the site. I would like something the relative like stupid cash, etc.

What's a good price point to start at for designer, content, and webmaster? Just a ball park figure...

I just landed a great job, this week. I'll be out of debt within the next week and overfluxed with cash the week after that. my monthly cost of living is 4 times less then my new weekly pay.

$8-15k to startup i'd say. I'm getting away with about $4,000 just cause I got some good hookups with some people and doing most everything myself.

I agree. If you just got the job, get settled in and bank some money and in 6 months or a year figure out if you want to invest.

so 15k startup and about how much a month to keep?

i seriously am going to want to reinvest my money and it's either this or into real estate, but i figure i can build more money through adult and end up fixing myself for life through real estate.

say i wanted 1: reality site 1: hardcore site 1: blow job or niche/fetish site 1: lesbian site
how much monthly would that content run, if i wanted it to be exclusive? im still talking ballpark.

If you do it thru us, between 4 and 10k filled with all exclusive pics+vids content. The difference is in the amount of content, of course

Just seen a post a few hours ago where you said you need money to pay the bills. If you want to build up a real good converting content rich site you have to invest up to 20k depending on your needs.

You're leaving out an important factor: TRAFFIC. Where will you be getting it from?

One all exclusive hardcore weekly updated site will cost a minimum of $6k to update.

Honestly I don't think you need capital to do a good site, just spend some manhours building traffic and a few $$$'s on a great design.

I'm going to give you some honest advice. I've been in this business for close to 8 years now, and had many many clients come to me with the same questions you're asking right now.

My advice to you would be to wait.. and start small. You are one of those people (and believe me, I can see this) that have a dream of doing something they know close to nothing about.

You haven't even gotten this money yet and already it's burning a hole in your pocket. This is a bad sign in itself.

I've built so many sites for people such as yourself, who have great ambitions and high hopes.. this is usually what happens..

They get the design, they get the content, if they've bought our consulting, we start on learning how to obtain traffic. As soon as they see how much work it is, it surprises them, but they hang in there.. and work their tails off.. for a while..

Then money becomes a problem.. and the dream that looked so good to them months before starts to pale. Then they start not staying in contact.. and pretty soon.. I never hear from them again, except for an occasional one that'll message me to see if I'm interested in buying them out.. which I'm not.

Don't be one of those stories Thong Sniper.. start small.. work your butt off.. and spend close to nothing while you learn.. that's my advice to you

And how are you going to get the content, steal it?

Thong
Decide on the site niche you want to launch with. Then look around the net at what others are offering.

Work on the basis that most surfers will want a minimum of 10 similar sets a day to look at and two new sets a day update, unless you're doing exclusive which will cost ten times the price.

So you need somewhere arond 300 sets or videos plus 60 sets to update 2 a day for a month. 360 sets that are not crap, saturated on a content blowout and been on the net already for 12 months will cost somewhere between $30 and $50 each.

Don't go to one seler as you need a few different interpretations of the same niche/style. So looking at $40 x 360 - you are looking at around $15,000. Start up.

What ever discounts you can negotiate, and remeber good content providers are still selling and not giving it away, you can spend on hosting, design, programming, etc.

Will be a few months until you generate enough income to be adding new content from the profit, so budget for content on a basis ov 60 sets a month at $40 = $2400. Another $10,000. So something around $15,000 with no updates and $25,000 with them.

If you are not signing up enough people after four months to afford adding content from the profits maybe you should try something another business.

What I'm thinking is with this new very well paid job are you going to find the time to run a paysite? Or do you think when it's set up it runs itself.

If you don't have the traffic to feed the paysite with, forget it. Everyone can build a paysite, that's easy. But not everyone can get the traffic for it.

I burned over $20,000 in a failed affiliate program.

I don't mind admitting, my mistakes were classic. Graphicsbytia nailed it perfectly.

Knowing what I know now, and with nearly 5 years of experience under my belt now, I think I could do a lot better. At least I'd have SOME idea as to what I should be doing.

You might consider working with an ARS - Champs site. You'll get free content, and a chance of getting some affiliate. Most importantly though, you'll get some experience. It really does make all the difference.

Get some experience, save your money and bide your time. With a little hard work, you'll have the first hand experience to make a real shot at something like this, in fairly short order.

I would save almost all the money and invest just a little part of it in TGP spots, bandwidth, some content to build freesites. Traffic isn't easy to get. After a year, think about the paysite again.

You got a new job making 40K a year.

That's roughly $760 a week before taxes.

Let's just SAY for argument, it's $700 after tax.

$700 / 4 = $175

Your monthly living expenses are $175 or less?

Do you live in a cardboard box?

$40,000/year <> enough to start a sponsor program.

That's roughly $760 a week before taxes.

Let's just SAY for argument, it's $700 after tax.

$700 / 4 = $175

Your monthly living expenses are $175 or less?

Do you live in a cardboard box?

$40,000/year <> enough to start a sponsor program.
now that's assuming he keeps his job for a year.

which really isn't likely.

Capital ? all you need is a good ADSL connection to run a spare 486 on for the server. Then just goto a big paysite, screengrab their tour, change the logo, suck down their members area and run a big search and replace on a few tags you're good to go!

i'm basing my judgement on your own posts, starting with you selling a shitty site for $100 because you knew nothing about the niche you were attempting to promote.
