The radio station I listen to during the day for background noise has been playing quite a bit of Velvet Revolver lately. It's pretty good and I'm really starting to get into it. I think it's different enough from both STP and G&R so that you don't sit there saying "eh... this sounds like STPs second album", which I was afraid of.
Take Audioslave, just pop them on and it's pretty clear you're looking at Cornell and the RATM boys, which is a huge reason I never got into them.
