Why did the DEFEAT of the US in VIETNAM bother us so much???

It's not like its the first time we got our asses beat (see War of 1812)

Was it because the foot that cracked against US ass was a Third World impoverished country?

basically it was a half-hearted attempt?

I dunno... Its not like the US didn't POUR resources into Nam. In fact, we poured so much $$$ into Nam that it fucked up our Gold Reserves.... so much that Nixon had to take the USA off the Gold standard.

Vietnam was another one of the dickass upside down cluster fucked messes we got ourselves into.

That was my generation. I knew lots of guys that went there and came back so fucked up mentally from all the atrocities they experienced or witnessed they were never the same.

On 60 minutes tonight they had a report about one of the biggest massacres where US troops went into a village made all the people go into a huge ditch, including women, children and infants and then they just murdered them all with their M-16's.

Well, let's see, my dad was sent over there with no choice while a bunch of rich fucking pussies whose fathers were men of influence stayed home and fucked the cheerleaders. My dad was atunnel rat. You know what a fucking tunnel rat is? They take a small guy, hand him a flashlight, a gun and a knife and say "go down there and look for enemies. Kill first, ask questions later."

Most of the people he met AND KILLED in those tunnels were women and children and he didn't get let in on this until he'd killed whoever was attacking him in the tunnel. These weren't the type of tunnels you drive your fucking car through, these were sewer tunnels that you had to crawl into.

He also was able to enjoy a little thing called the Tet Offensive...read your fucking history book about that. I had to because he won't talk much about it to this day.

He got his brains fucking scrambled then came home to a country and administration that didn't give a fuck. He got let in on the secret that he was part of some BULLSHIT political play.

I had the pleasure of growing up with this as a kid. Do YOU know the feeling of being a 6 year old kid going in to wake your father up by jumping on the bed only to have his hands go around your neck until you almost pass out?

My father-in-law fought in this same bullshit politcal fuckfest and got a dose of agent orange for his troubles. He's literally falling apart as his insides melt and his brain deteriorates by the day. My wife had to grow up getting tested all the time to ensure she wasn't affacted by the agent orange. Her borthers and sisters had to endure the same thing. Do you know the fear I have that my kids could have inherited problems from their grandfather's exposure to this fucking chemical that WE DROPPED ON OUR OWN TROOPS.

He's literally falling apart and can't even get full disability because of the fact he can get up and dress hiself in the morning. The VA does fuckall about it.

So, you want to know why I bristle up at shit like this and think our troops in Iraq are due the same treatment from some cocksucker in office fighting a BULLSHIT political war???

If Iraq turns out to be another Vietnam, the next generation is DOOMED.

We didn't win because of all the politics involved. Its like we get one effective weapon. Media shows people killed with that weapon on TV. Politicians remove that weapon. We take a hill, take heavy casualties, the next day a Politician calls the general and says its Bad to have that hill. Lots of shit like that is what cost us the war...

I agree bro. Its fucking time for the US to ease up on fucking military adventurism.

GW Bush don't give a rat's ass about the boys and girls in Iraq cuz during Nam he was AWOL from the national guard.

Let's start the process of healing by voting his clown ass out of office.

Then start clearing up the rest of the mess.

I predict in 30 years, the bullshit that was inflicted on Iraq this year will BLOWBACK on the US (blowback is a CIA term, do a google search, its not pretty).

Vietnam was the precursor to Watergate. LBJ and JFK both had taped their political opponents, Nixon just got caught.

yup, he got caught and lied about it...if only he had Clinton or Reagan's speaking skills...

Have you seen the movie "Dick" about the Watergate scandal? Funny "what if" type movie about Nixon.

Setting up lines you could not cross, ports and cities you could not bomb for fear you might hit a Russian, Chinaman, or a Cuban . . . yes, we fought that war for 10 years with one hand tied behind our backs, spent billions, and had 65,000 men killed

Fact: the US didn't lose one major battle during the entire Vietnam war.

                              We didn't lose. We left.
