How come affiliate program sign up forms are not SSL secure? How come affiliate program sign up forms are not SSL secure?

How come affiliate program sign up forms are not SSL secure?
The majority of the affiliate program's sign up pages are not SSL secure. I give my personal information including social security number to a none secure page. I always feel like prying eyes are watching and anyone can steal my SS#. What are your comments on this?
