Hiya,

I not techy at all, so this may be a very supid question for some..k?

Unix based server:

I just baught a shit load of member content and they named the images "PICTURE.JGP" instead of "picture.jpg" . I dont feel like renaming 10,000 pics, will any members have trouble viewing UPPER case files?

What about folders with spaces, could that be a problem? Something like members/pictures/Jammie Fucking/PICTURE1.JPG

Call the content guy that sold it to you , and tell them to fucking fix it.

Do the pictures show up if you test them on a browser? Sounds like they may be named.... picture.jgp.jpg
If this is the case its ok

I tested a couple and they work with my browser/set up. Im wondering if all browers/set ups can view em?

They are not named "picture.jpg.jpg" they are named PICTURE.JPG

as long as you link to them in the same case they should work fine.

Thats what I was tinking, but will that work with every browser/OS?

What about folder space? Does MAC add "%" if the folder has a space between words?

hmmmmm.... i am not sure if there is a UNIXC based version of rename it but i think that there is something very similar to it for unix ...

other than that i would just open the fuckers up on your local machine a rename them all with acdsee and then reupload ..

I've got sites with the same issues on my linux box and I haven't had any problems.

As far as the case sensitivity:
That's one thing I do like about Win servers, no case sensitivity

it's not that hard to rename pics if you use the right tool Ray, I use renameit and it works on whole directories, and pretty fast.

here's the scoop, domains are not case sensitive, directory names and file names (including extensions) are case sensitive. As long as you link to them with their proper capitalization, all will be fine.

however, with all that said, there is a tool, I use 'NameWiz' that with a click of a button all files will be renamed to lower case in a few seconds.
