MAD props to this guy. I'd love to something similar to his single turbo Thunderbird in a Nova II. :)

Vet:

The 2JZ GTE engine is extremely reliable. My stock longblock has 112,000 miles on it, no smoke, and it's had a hard life!

Many, many Supras have put out 800+ rwhp on the stock block. I believe there are several Supras in the 900-1000 rwhp range on the stock block. I believe around 1000 rwhp is the limit on the stock shortblock. Those shortblocks cost $2,000 US from Toyota. :)

right, im sayin anything above and beyond that you aint gettin for no 2 grand thats for sure. Did they fix the notorious blown head gasket issue with 20+ lbs of boost?

The newer (93+) Supras never had a head gasket problem... The older turbo supras (87-92) had the weak head gaskets.

We all start with the same body, and the same size engine block. We then have 3 months to put it all together and see what turns out the best looking and the fastest.

Who wants to pick out the car. We can do the 64 Nova if you wish.

I have a 55 chevy truck that needs finished :)

Awesome, so we all buy one part for it, you install it and you sell it and we divide the profits equally. What do you think. :thumbsup

Semi-Retired-Dave 05-11-2004 10:15 AM

Crocket, do you have any pictures of your 55 Chevy Truck.
Would love to see how much work it needs.

no it's just been sitting in my warehouse with a bunch of crap piled on top of it for a few years now...lol The body is in pretty good shape no major rust.. I had already smoothed the firewall and replaced the lower door hinges and steps on the cab. It has a camero sub frame on the front end and a camero rear end. The only reason I stopped working on it, is because I had the doors at a friends shop and they were stolen. So it kinda bummed me out on the project.

If I get it into a the wall a couple of times like I did with the spec truck I used to drive a couple of years ago, I may just do that.

Semi-Retired-Dave 05-11-2004 03:59 PM

The truck I used to race. It was one of the first Spec trucks ever built.

I build/race imports.

Fastest trap is 143mph out of a no-nitrous 85mm Honda Block. In a street hatch on 22" slicks.

Current car is a 96 Eclipse GST. Should go low 140's on a 75shot. Running 35psi or so. Should go 125mph traps on pump gas and low boost.

Here's the motor, it just went in this weekend:

I think car racing is an exciting game and dangerous as well.

You're thinking about the MKIII Supra. That's the 1JZ GTE I believe. It's a crappy motor.

The MKIV Supra has the amazingly reliable 2JZ GTE.

NICE!!!!!

You know Lowell perhaps? He's the biggest tuner of DSMs in the PacNW. He's a friend of mine who just happens to tune my cars too. :)

u4ia 05-18-2004 08:53 AM

Yea, I know Lowell.

I haven't talked to him in about a year however, but ya, I'm heavily into DSM's, and Honda's.

Not Riced-Out Honda's, just sleepers putting 600+ to the tires without any help from the giggle juice.

I just want my street car to run, should be soon, got my roll cage all bent last night, 4130 chromo, and my 3.5" exhaust all sectioned and ready to be TIG'd. Wheels are in, tires are in, just need it mounted, and I just need to get the control arms back from the machine shop due to having them machine in spherical bushings. :)

I can talk cars ALL day.
