New Adidas Sneakers Equipped With 5 Mil / Sec Microprocesser (pic)

What a clever idea.

The latest Adidas shoe, called '1', is shown here in Portland, Ore., Thursday, May 6, 2004, during its' introduction at the company's U.S. headquarters. The shoe is equipped with a microprocessor capable of making five million calculations per second to adjust heel cushioning. It can turn firm for off-road, trail running and then soften up when it hits the pavement.

That probably means you can't get on an international flight with those shoes on with clearing customs. Might be considered too powerful a CPU to allow its export

LOL, I bet they won't even let you on the plane if one of the baffoon security people sees those on your feet.

Worse they'll probably go to Code 3 thinking you've got a bomb wired in them.

Sorry, APPLE makes our internal shoe batteries, so they only last for 18 months, and cannot be replaced. You'll have to buy a new one sir.

Haha, if they were smart they should have put a microdrive in there and a wireless feature to load in your MP3's while you're jogging.

I know, due to the components' resistivity to spacial interference.

Seems like a fad type of idea. Regular sneakers and Nike Air still work well. What happens if one shoe dies but the other goes strong, will it be all fucked up?

YES! I seen Burton jackets with built-in MP3 players before. They should flawlessly integrate...

You know... I went to a RUNNER's shoe store a few weeks ago... they carried ONE pair of pink "boing" Nike Shox in the whole store. I asked if it was a bad shoe for real runners -- the person told me that it wasn't a BAD shoe per se, but WAY overpriced and that they didn't want to screw their customers over. They just had the one female SHox there, because the demand was so high.

Same with this shoe, it will be mighty expensive and a big hype will exist. But true advantages to real runners? I think not.
