Wilber,
I have two Rottweilers I brought back from Costa Rica. Neither have papers. Could you tell me from pictures, to the best of your knowledge, if they appear to have anything other than Rottweiler in them. They can't ever have papers, and they're just pets .. I'm kind of curious though. Both dogs are marked properly, but the female seems sort of smallish, even for a bitch. Anyway, if you can do this .. Let me know ;) |
cute :)

These are all the pics I have right now, and can't hotlink so they're on this html page: http://www.creamshots.com/pups/pups.html Most of the pictures are from 1 year ago, when they were 1 year old .. Right after the little female had both hips repaired. The bottom two pictures are more recent. They were about 2 years old in the pictures. She is 88 pounds, He is 148. |

but was one of the smartest dogs I even had the pleasure of knowing. Rottweilers are originally bred from mastiffs. Rottweilers were originally bred by cattle and sheep herders who would use the dogs for not only herding but as guards of money. The dogs wore special collars that were money pouches and when the herd was sold in the town the owners could safely get drunk and passout with their money wrapped around the dogs neck...if anyone tried to fuck with the owner or the money the dogs would instinctively kill the robbers. Owners always woke up hung over and still in possession of their funds. Mastiffs were used by the Romans in battle. The dogs were outfitted with armor and were the first wave sent in, the dogs would take out 10-12 of the enemy before they were killed. Very valuable and formidable warriors. |

They are not mixed with anything. Unfortunate you don't have a history on those dogs I'd swear they are Danish origin. The dark mask on the "big dog" is beautiful, very desirable in rotties. Nice animals you have there...I bet they look real ominous at night. |
Deffinetly best dogs I've ever had. Fiercly loyal, but gentle and intelligent. Good combination in my books.
Female is a little too light for kenel club standards I believe .. And he is a little too large if I'm right. |

there is hardly a breed to match their obedience and determination. Quote:
of the front shoulders, I always push the dog's head down so it's level with the withers to take a measurement. dames are 22" to 25" and sires are 24" to 27". 27" is a very large dog and I'd say your male looks about 26"ish...maybe a shave less. |

They may look ominous, until you get close and the lick attack begins. Not too ominous after that. Couple of traits I've noticed they share, along with a friend's rottweiler: Sleep on their backs, legs in the air spread eagle (or against a wall) Whine and or whimper followed by growling and aggression towards other dogs. I know the dog-dog aggression is a symptom of improper socialization, and the fact the male is not Neutered and draws attention from other males ... But still I find it comical to see big dogs whimpering at each other .. It's like a trick almost "No honestly, I just want to be your friend. C'mere" |

like to lay on their bellies and fold one paw under...it's a rottie thing. Once I got into rotties I started to appreciate the mastiffs. Mastiff http://www.ezthemes.com/previews/m/mastiff.jpg This pic is in the CKC book and I just love it. The majesticness and muscle development in that animal is superb. Look at the confidence in his eyes. These guys are better in a group of 3 or more. Definitely an outside animal. Give them acreage to patrol and you'll never be robbed again. |
My ex girlfriend and her mother are registered breaders of Bull Mastifs. They are Shaela (I think) Bull Mastifs, in Victoria B.C.
I always thought they were beautiful dogs. |
The gardeners are here...I got to go give them shit.
I'll check back here later. |

Very interesting thread. I avoided clicking on it before, but im glad I did.
I dont know anything about dogs, but enjoyed the conversation on rottweilers. A high school friend of mine had two of them, I'm not sure whether or not they're pure breed, just always assumed they were. But anyhow, the dogs caught a robber in the backyard and jumped over a 6 foot fence to catch the guy and one of them came back with some of the robbers calve and jeans in his mouth. The storey was legendary. |

Just so there's no confusion in the future. This is what a
Cocker Spaniel looks like. http://www.akc.org/breeds/recbreeds/cockersp.cfm For sweetcuties - notice the muzzle, height, and spine length. For flashfreak- notice the amount of coat on the legs, muzzle and spine length. The AKC's pic, flashfreak's pic, and sweetcuties's pic are three entirely different dogs. |

to listen to a professional. You don't want to believe you jumped in too early and didn't do your homework properly. I deal with your attitude constantly, your not alone in your views. It's a pet, it's cute, if it makes you happy then more power to ya. Just don't pass it off as a purebred and you'll never run into a conversation like this again. Lots of professional dog people out there so watch your words in mixed company. |

Hey wilber! I gotta question for you. I have asked soooo many people what kind of dog I have but no one can give me a definitive answer. I think she's part Aussie shepperd and something else. BUt ive been told all sorts of things, like Aus. Cattle dog???, She's gotta be some type of sheperd cause she herds the shit out of my pit when they go play. not sure if you can tell but any help would be great. Thanks!

Border Collies and Poodles are the most intelligent breeds. German
Shepards have the unique trait of "willing to please"...one of the easiest dogs to train because all they want to do is make you happy. German Shepards are the perfect "first dog" because of the ease in training and the loyalty they possess. Border Collies are always "on the go"...that coupled with their intelligence makes them the most awesome herders and ball chasers. I bet that dog is not only smart but super loyal. |
Nice!:)

aaaaeee he looks cute
|
Nice :)

Cool dog.
It looks like he would be good at sweeping the floor in that first pic. Does your dog use Sunsilk? That is an impressive shine. :winkwink: |
nice dog, but probably not a good watcher
|
So fuckin' cute !
|
I'd hit it.
|
lowely dog :thumbsup
|
Cute pup, besides, if you love it, and it loves you, who cares if its a purebreed or not. :thumbsup
