We are told that not all Iraqis are terrorists or insurgents. Maybe we should also be reminded that the actions of less than half a dozen "reservists" does NOT reflect the behavior of the entire Allied army.

Pathetic to see mainstream media affect supposedly intelligent business people to this extent. 5 pornstars have been diagnosed with HIV, so using some of you people's logic, every pornstar now has HIV. Ridiculous.

The military is supposed to operate under the most strictest of command and control authority. This is about the disintegration of that authority. Also, these events transpired over the past 6 months. Why wasn't it immediately brought out? The President claims he wasn't aware of this until he saw it on TV. If he is telling the truth then Donald Rumsfeld should be fired for not informing him of this situation. |
its good that some news show whats going on

Its amazing how some people think.
I dont care how you vote, just get the correct facts. Most, if not all of the people here are essentially small business owners. Both democrat and rupublican parties basic ideals dictate they are harsh on the porn industry. Neither party will ever shut down the industy. however, One of the parties just wants to get more of your income to distribute to the people that dont work as hard as you. You may be supporting your very own pay cut. Your vote, could cost you a lot of money. So be careful how you use it. |
Timeline of the incident for those who can't think past breaking CNN news headlines:
Jan. 13, 2004: Spec. Joseph M. Darby turned over images on a computer disk to a sergeant in his unit, who immediately notified Army criminal investigators. Within hours, the investigators seized computers and discs from members of the unit. Jan 15, 2004: Gen. John Abizaid phoned Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. Within days: Six soldiers from the 372nd were quickly taken off duty and there was a public announcement about the criminal probe. (with no pictures) Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the ground commander in Iraq, was briefed on the initial findings and within days asked Abizaid to order a broader investigation that would reach into the entire 800th Military Police Brigade, some 3,200 soldiers that included the Maryland-based unit. There was no announcement of that more extensive investigation. Next 2.5 Months: Maj. Gen. Antonio M. Taguba led the investigation. Investigation completed in March and six Maryland reservists were charged with crimes. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nat...orld-headlines |

we live in different times. and this close to election, such news are hyperventilated to the maximum extent. |

LOL.... And when after March was the president informed??? Or is this a ordinary situation for him, with no implication. Congress got report from the web, because army officials came to a briefing without it.... Now, crawl back in your bunker. |

Exactly what I said: coverup . No pictures surfacing, no president involvment so he can be kept away from HIS responsability as the " chief commander".... No point discussing with you, and BTW, I am probably twice your age and IQ.... |
One of the problems here is that it has been nearly five months and only the lowly enlisted grunts have received sanctions. This is a failure in leadership by the senior commanders and Taguba's report details that these grunts were merely following the lead and encouragement of civilian contractors (CIA?) and also more than likely the officers.
One of Bush's problems is that he has never been a details kind of guy. If the report given to him is not read to him or on a single sheet of paper, its likely to have slipped by him. No doubt it went something like this: Rummy: Got some reports of mistreatment of iraqi detainees. Bush: Ok Rummy: Its being investigated. Bush: Ok Rummy: Next we have problems in Fallujah.... Heads are going to roll now that the press is all over this. Had 60 min not broken this story, I am not convinced that there would have been any change in policy, just 6 grunts would have been dishonorably discharged. No, the attitude that created this environment where its ok to mistreat POWs would have remained, only the perpetrators of future acts would have been on notice not to photograph their conduct. |
