OOOOOFFFFF. |
They should have given that money to me. :)

I don't think any painting is worth that much cash.
But there are some stupid rich people out there who do stupid things with thier cash. |
$104 Mil for a pic of Pauly Shore? Negative...

I own several paintings worth £35,000+ each, and although small fry compared to Picasso or other great names, I would rather have these to look at every day than sell a few and buy another Porsche. Monet, Picasso, and other great impressionists are worth the money because they are so great. Owners will never loose money over investing in them, and $104 million is small change the the people that won the auction. |
Lemme just check my bank account.
Hmm... perhaps a bubble gum joe cartoon would look nice on my wall instead. |
its a picasso
if i'd be a billionaire i'd buy it :) |
i would prefer somethin i love to look at...for that money i would buy a few original warhol's :Graucho
maybe even a lichtenstein or De Kooning...:2 cents: but that's just my personal taste |

That's one pricey peice of canvas, what I wonder will it go in a vault or on a wall! If the buyer puts it on his wall or in his collection to admire then it is worth it for him.
Some people have way too much money, bastards:-) |

I wouldn;'t say people have it JUST as bad, last time I checked there were more people dying of starvation, aids & civil war in Africa than in the rest of the world put together :2 cents: |
If i have that much money and like art i am shure i would:thumbsup

I understand that a lot of money is also being spend on salleries (people who work there need some income too ofcourse) , but if everybody has that attitude nothing will change for the better These people need to be educated as well in order to "sustain it's population" if i may quote you on that one |
If I had $104 million i would share it with the poor

Check out the US Treasury's "Debt To The Penny" page. This number blows my mind. http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm |

I don't think the impoverished parts of Africa are saveable. You have terrible agriculture, so you can' t even grow food there. They really need to relocate the population. |
hell no
|
Buying a painting has nothing to do with poverty. If you spend 100 bucks on a concert someone could argue that you could have fed 40 hungry people.
If you want to help then send all your money to charity. Many people who are wealthy donate to charity and buy paintings. I don't see how one has anything to do with the other. |
It's a genuine Picasso! Market value is determined in part by what people will pay for it. If someone is willing to pay that kind of money for it, then that's what it worth.
I would bet that the value goes up over time; its a pretty solid investment. Some authentic monet oil paintings are valued at similar prices. |

I wouldnt want to be in charge of moving the painting.. If it gets ruined its not like you can replace it.

Think of the stock market. When the price of a stock fluctuates, its not because the companies' assets fluctuate (usually), the price fluctuation is a reflection of demand, of what people are willing to pay for it. |
Anyone here collect watches?

no!

Not only does the buyer get the prestige the super wealthy are so concerned with, it's also an extremely safe investment guaranteed to go up in the long term. |

Fuck no, I'd rather paint it myself than spend 104 mil...:thumbsup
