I have been going thru some mental testing to find out if I have add or adhd and the whole experience with the brain test they run on me is amazing. They are professionals of the mind! Still waiting on the test results. I always thought you had to be nuts to have one but it's normal

Personally, I'd go for the psychiatrist - that's how you get the meds that make you feel all warm and fuzzy!

Yes, the psychologist does the diagnosis and he sends me to a psychiatrist to get the medications needed. I don't want the meds, I just want condition I have and go after it the holistic route.

BT I think you have "Conduct D/O" type or "Hyperactivity D/O" type of ADD or ADHD.

I have the DSM IV here is you want the text book diagnostic criteria for both. Plus, I have the PDR if you want to know what new drugs are just came out in the last month.....

I have a very bad case of ADD and they put me on Ritalin which made me very focused, but a damn zombie. I find excessive sleep helps along with a low sugar diet.

Valium doesn't hurt.

I've just read abit about DSM-IV-TR, can you have this as an adult? The info i read was describing childrens behavior. But it's how i feel.

* Often becoming easily distracted by irrelevant sights and sounds

* Often failing to pay attention to details and making careless mistakes

* Often skipping from one uncompleted activity to another.

Is this common or is it a problem, i have very hard time concentrate on a single task and when working on the computer it's really tuff as you have so much stuff you can check instead of your work.

And it's really a trouble for me. thought i just were lazy and unmotivated.

yep you can have that as an adult, I use to be REALLY bad with the last one, I stuck myself to a reasonable schedule not a from 1-5 schedule but duration schedule for a classifcation of tasks. IE 2 hours, 1 hour etc...

that fixed that problem

exercise is the best thing you can do for your mental health. walk 1/2 an hour every day as soon as you wake up.

i bet you will feel less depressed and/or anxious.
