Problem:
If you open the lens to get a long exsposure then her whole body would be blurred from the movement.
I honestly think its alot of photoshop, the lines look to perfect to be written that large and in the air without seeing them.Comment

Not if it were pitch black in the room. She said she used a flashlight to make the "gfy" and the room was completely dark. Just a flash to capture her initial image.Originally posted by VideoVoyeur

Unless she wrote GFY perfectly in less then .0001 seconds the amount of time for a flash, then it didnt happen.Comment

Also notice that her flashlight is at the Beginning of the letter G, if she had written it she would be at the end of the Y, unless she is VERY multi talented and wrote it backwards with a flashlight, but DIDNT move at ALL and did it in less then .0001 seconds.
Otherwise that image is a fake, its done with a sharpy pen on paper with either adobe photoshop or Bryce and the layers reversed with lens flares and lighting effects.Comment

And actually if you look at it, notice at the ends of the letters how it has a start and a finish? She didnt use a flashlight, if she had the light source would have been continous.
Look at the ends of the lines in the letters and think Sharpie pen.
Read above.Comment

She is a graphic art student according to her profile. So I'm sure she has been exposed to photo 101. This shot wasn't done in one try. It is one of many that didn't turn out as well.
Time to pull out My Hosemaster. Looks like cheap digital fun.Comment

The shot is not easy but definetly doable without photoshop.
She could have had the flash go off fist as she sat there with the flashlight and posed.
Then with the exposure still open she could have written GFY in complete darkness. If she went over the mid "f" to mid "y" slowly that would account for the briteness there.Comment

No it wouldn't. Apparently you have NO idea of a photography technique called "Light Painting". It's pretty much a branch of photography all it's own. The picture was NOT photoshopped.Originally posted by VideoVoyeur

My friend who is a photographer told me that it could be possible, but in her opinion the photo it is most definatly photoshopped. Even if it was just to add the words to the picture. She said the flashlight would not create a highlight in a way that looks like it shines acrossed all 3 letters perfectly.
I didn't want to sound catty, but that came from a woman who has spent close to 30 years behind the lens.
I do really like the picture, its a cool effect.Comment

You people are talking out of your ass.
None of you knows how to operate a camera (a REAL camera) if you don't think this is real.
I can see it plain as day:
Room, pitch black.
Set the exposure to "Bulb".
Fire the first shot with a strobe, capturing the initial image of the model (flashlight is off)
Room is again pitch black.
Turn the flashlight on, start with the G, and work from right to left. (you can clearly see the "Y" is trailing out of the frame. This is where she exited the exposure)
Once she leaves out of the framing, you then release the shutter and the exposure is complete.
It would take several tries, but this is CLEARLY done by photography methods.
GFY to all you assholes talking shit because of a well thought-out & hahahahahahahad photo !!

Don't ASSume no one here knows photography, MANY people know that I filmed movies for http://www.screengemsstudios.com for 11 years.
Except I admit, I didnt use "Real" cameras, mine were Arri cams and cost around $50,000 usd a piece.
It's Photoshopped, your ranting shows no evidence at all, and I have shown MORE then enough to show it is NOT a real image from a camera.
If your stacking MULTIPLE images onto 1 image, then yes, it would take a long time and it IS possible, but that is not what was done on the above image.
Also the competition was for the Best photograph, not best 10 photographs merged into 1.
She had said that this was ONE picture that she did. I was showing that THIS image could NOT have been done with ONE image as she herself stated.Last edited by VideoVoyeur; 05-04-2004, 11:28 AM.Comment

no, this is one photograph done with an instant of flash, and almost 10 full seconds of shutter time capturing a single light source.Originally posted by VideoVoyeur
