To the best of my knowledge American citizens are not required to answer to any "World" tribunal/court...thus are not in violation of American law.

Torture unfortunately is another one of those necessary evils that some countries practice blatantly and some deny it but do it discreetly. But usually the only way to extract cooperation and information from the enemy is with some degree of brutality.

'FAKE' CLAIMS OVER PHOTOS OF ARMY ABUSE

May 3 2004

DOUBTS have been cast on the authenticity of shocking images which show British troops abusing Iraqi captives. The pictures were leaked by two soldiers in the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.

They included an Iraqi prisoner being beaten and urinated on by a British soldier. But one expert questioned some of the details shown.

He said the rifle held by a soldier was the wrong type and lacked the sling with which it would be worn by serving troops.

In addition, he claimed a hat in the pictures was not of the sort worn by the regiment in Iraq.

The truck in which the scenes took place appeared to be of the wrong type and the alleged victim was neither dirty or injured, he said.

The pictures were published on Saturday by the Record's sister newspaper, the Daily Mirror.

Editor Piers Morgan rejected suggestions the photos were forgeries.

He said: 'The two serving members of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment who provided our photographs ... stand fully behind every word of their story, rebutting every question raised.

'They also stand by the complete veracity of the photographs.

'They also make a number of serious new allegations of improper conduct by British troops.'
