Providing content for others

Serious question here..if a person should decide to get VERY involved in providing content to make a living instead of hosting/promoting sites, what would you say are the five MOST important things to do/remember about the content biz?

Don't do any particular niches then? Just have a large variety on hand to cover all the bases?

what would you say are the five MOST important things
1) Reduce cost of living to the bottom, below the social average
2) Work about 19h a day at least
3) Find the best lawer
4) Open an account with all the other lawers which will ever sue you, so that they can't do this (this is much cheaper)
5) Get Terra's of Diskspace and several comps to handle all the content

So far allof you missed the real points.

1) Learn how to shoot, to many clowns with cameras already.
2) Specialise, be a master of one trade not a jack of all trades.
3) User friendly site, a lot of clients will not try to figure out your site to buy.
4) Quality, the cheap end is done to death.

5) Respect the surfer, assume those spending $30 a month for porn know what they're buying. You may be able to con a webmaster or paysite owner to buy bad content but a member is not so naive. He needs to be kept happy to ensure your customer comes back again and again. The days of throw up anything and they will pay are over. Learn that and you will have a better chance of surviving.

Dont make webmasters jump through hoops to view the thumbnails on your site, we really have no intention of stealing those or the couple sample imges with huge watermarks.

1. Know the law and make sure you comply.
2. Get to know your cameras and equipment
3. Remember... mistakes happen, but you shouldn't make the same mistake twice.
4. Treat the models w/ respect and they'll send their friends to work w/ you.
5. Respect your clients/customers.

These are truly some very intuitive ideas gang!

I am really appreciating your input. Got a feeling a lot of people that might be thinking of going into content (or have just done so) will get a lot out of this also!

And always open for MORE input!

I'm stressing that point, that is so important. In the end, it's the surfer who's using the porn, so it better be good!

Build a custom FTP server on UNIX platform with clever security so that webmasters won't try to download the content and then let thier friends download it too :-)

One thing I'd like to add here is that if you run a site that requires a password to access, don't wait 3-4 days before getting back to the webmaster that requested a password for access. That totally drives me nuts!

I'd hate to have your job. Shooting porn for a living and then selling it.
