Expedition to search for Noah's Ark

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An expedition is being planned for this summer to the upper reaches of Turkey's Mount Ararat where organizers hope to prove an object nestled amid the snow and ice is Noah's Ark.

A joint U.S.-Turkish team of 10 explorers plans to make the arduous trek up Turkey's tallest mountain, at 17,820 feet, from July 15 to August 15, subject to the approval of the Turkish government, said Daniel P. McGivern, president of Shamrock- The Trinity Corporation of Honolulu, Hawaii.

The goal: to enter what they believe to be a mammoth structure some 45 feet high, 75 feet wide and up to 450 feet long that was exposed in part by last summer's heat wave in Europe.

"We are not excavating it. We are not taking any artifacts. We're going to photograph it and, God willing, you're all going to see it," McGivern said.

Cool, hopefully next they can setup an expedition to the North Pole to get pictures of Santa's workshop!

They won't find shit unless they create it...

Just shows that they aren't interested in getting scientific proof of anything. Just pictures? An expedition like that and you wouldn't get a fucking sample? I would think that if you believed in such a thing and actually found it, you would do everything in your power to prove to the world what you've found. They're already giving themselves an out. Pictures don't prove shit. It's a bunch of nutjobs going on a strokefest.

Uh wait, people actually believe that there was a guy who build a huge boat alone and had a couple of every animal onboard?

Wow...

They already showed that a boat the size the Ark wouldve been cannot be made out of wood and be functional.

Taking a sample would mean wrecking/damaging it and I don't think they are planning to do that.

always an interesting subject nevertheless... it is very telling that near every culture in the world has mythos about a great flood and one man surviving it w/ a collection of flora and fauna... there is at least a common root to the legend farther back in time that has been forgotten in our age..

you can see the Mount Ararat, where his arc landed from my house in Armenia. It is a beatiful mountain, used to belong to Armenians, until Turks killed Armenians and drove them away.

It won't prove anything.

It's called a belief for a reason.

Waste of good cash better spent on signing up to my sponsors sites

Even the Native Americans have legends of the Water Time. If SOMEthing didn't happen way back when, how did THEY get the stories from Europe?

As far as the Ark? It's possible it could be real. Something you should NEVER do is say IMPOSSIBLE.

Getting up the mountain that far? So these scientists can actually POS-I-TIVELY say how high the water would be... even including the water INside the Earths crust? Highly doubtful. A guess would be the best they could do.

If they can float a ship that weighs millions of tons, floating a wooden ship would be fairly easy. Especially one lined with pitch. The people back then weren't nearly as dumb as they are made out to be. lol
