I can not help but remember talking to my grandmother, may she rest in peace, about weed.

She was born and raised in Ireland, where the tavern was the village meeting place. The entire family would go there after church on Sunday afternoons, so she was quite familiar with the effects of alcohol on a person's temperment.

When she moved to the USA, she settled in San Francisco, and was there from the 1920's up until she died a couple years ago.

Anyway, she was in The City for the entire Flower Power, hippy generation. Haight-Ashbury was right across the park from her, and everyone was getting high in public back then.

She told me that compared to alcohol, people smoking pot seemed to be much less violent/aggressive.
