I'm Glad the World is a Safer Place for my Son...

After the thread I started last night about the beheading, I couldn't sleep very well. That video is so sad. Like I mentioned last night, I see 4 year old my son every time it's played or mentioned. What if it was MY boy that was on that video?

Please don't think that I don't feel badly for the mothers in Iraq that have lost their children to stray bombs... children we call "collateral damage".

This morning I'm preparing to spend the entire day with my little buddy. I'll take him out to eat breakfast, to the park, to the river to throw rocks into the water, and maybe to the video game store to get a new PS2 game.

The one thing I can't stop thinking is that the world is NOT a safer place for him. With every new country that we venture into, unwanted, we further anger extremists. These people hold grudges for years.

Long after our government officials are dead and gone, my little boy, and yours, will be paying for the hatred stirred up today.

And that, my friends, terrifies me.

I'm off to play with my buddy.

Have a nice day, everyone. Maybe spend some time with a child you love. Listen to them. Give them your undivided attention. The memories you make with them may be what gets them through a tough situation sometime in the future.

I totally agree with you. I dont have kids yet but they arent too far off. Its a shame what fellow human beings will do to one another. But that is the world we live in and nothing is going to change.

This indeed is a pretty fucked up world right now. Over here there seems to be more Violence and murders already this year than the whole of last year.

The world has gone crazy

Donovan is right...

The U.S. Gov't has never been very good at getting people to like us, and the current administration has done a spectacular job at making many more hate us even more than they already did. It's a problem that is going to haunt our country for decades - if anyone thinks (p)resident jackass has made our country safer, you're out of your mind. It was their hatred of our country that made al qaeda attack us in the first place. Do you think they hate us less now?

I haven't seen the video .. and I'm not sure that I wish to. .. but none the less I couldn't sleep last night either because of it.

It's one thing for soldiers invading a country to be killed in the line of duty but it's quite another for civilians who are only trying to help to be publicly martyred for a political cause.

I have two young daughters, 2 and 4 and I can't imagine what life would be like if we were living in the middle east, or countries like cambodia, nigeria etc.

I have no ill feelings towards middle easterners or muslims in general (only terrorists, who are present in almost all cultures which so many people forget) .. but I am damned glad that I'm raising my family in North America.

Right. Because the Muslims aren't attacking and bombing anyone who doesn't invade them.

Oh wait, except for India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China, most of Africa, etc.

Believing that if we meet the extremist's demands today that they'll leave us alone and we'll all live in peace is assinine.
They don't want to live in peace, they want us dead.

Ya know what I couldn't agree with you more on this brother. I have custody of a 4 and 8 year old boys. Guess that is why it brought tears to me.. Felt like a lil girl after watching that video like my eyes turned into a river! I couldn't even imagine if my kids were ever hurt let alone killed. But ya know when you see shit like this it makes ya stop and think FUCK I was just whining about bills, stress etc.. and while im whining someone else is having it worse then me

It's amazing how you equate him to paying his taxes to him killing children in Iraq, I sure hope you have NEVER bought an american product because one could also argue your money, which the corporation likewise paid taxes with was also used to kill children in Iraq by your OWN logic, so you're helping the war machine, funny how it all trickles down, using your logic.

The Red Crescent would be better for Iraq, after the 9/11 and the Red Cross allocation of funds debate, you don't really know what your money is doing.

I know what you mean Dovovan...
I've raised 9 children (youngest is 4)
and it terrifies me to hear all the horor stories.
Not just in other countries but, here as well.
Just a few weeks ago a 5 year old girl was snatched
up off the streets here where I live -
she was found the next day -
gagged and bound and she had been molested.

Cherish EVERY MOMENT

I watched that horrible video and after I did finally fall
asleep I had nightmares all night.

that's nice so in your Muslim money making ventures, do you happen to use a computer with a win-dows OS, or maybe a Apple OS? If so maybe you should burn it as you wouldn't want to support the American infidel pigs.. Better yet being Americans sarted the Internet, maybe you should unplug from it, otherwise you are showing your support to Americans.

Every product we purchase is going to in some way trickle down to something someone doesn't agree with. Whether it be a country at war using the tax dollars to fund the effort, sweat shops where young kids are working 12 hour+ days, terrorist groups etc. the list goes on.

Follow the development of any product and 99% of the time you will find this.

That is called life deal with it.

Donovan have fun with that little boy. Hes all that really matters right now

You don't make shit pencil dick...And whatever you do make, you should put it towards an education loser.

Your ignorance and attacks show your true colors and level of education.....You exemplify the true definition of a keyboard warrior locked in the bedroom of your mommy's house....

You are a fraud..... face to face, I'm sure you are the real pussy....

You know, I know it and this board knows it Donnie or whatever your real fucking name is.

Oh really?
<I> n 1973, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiated a research program to investigate techniques and technologies for interlinking packet networks of various kinds. The objective was to develop communication protocols which would allow networked computers to communicate transparently across multiple, linked packet networks. This was called the Internetting project and the system of networks which emerged from the research was known as the "Internet."</I>

perhaps CERN are like Al Gore?

An out of the blue comment like that is usually indicative of someone grasping at straws.
