How many days of not smoking before..

How many days of not smoking before it gets easier. I have one left in my pack, then bed, then a non smoker tommorow.. I've tried this before.. made it all of 30 something hours once...

This time I will do it, I got enuff gum to choke a rhino, enuff candy to assasinate every tooth in my mouth, even a pen cut in half so i have something to hold that resembles a cig.. if all that dont work, ill use psycological reinforcement and just punch myself in the face till the urge goes away.

so when is that point that ive heard about that once you get there it's alot easier? how many days/weeks?

I read that the "physical addiction" component of nicotine dependance lasts ONLY 7 DAYS. After that its purely force of habit and psychological dependance.

In other words if you can tough it out for one fucking week, you are past the physical part and the rest is all in your mind.

Good man. If I was there, I'd help by punching you in the face when you needed it.

Just make your first week without smoking and the cravings will keep shrinking until there so tiny that you can ignore them.

Good luck. I've tried quitting before but only lasted 5 days. I thought I had the hang of it but out of routine I lit one up

You have to give your system a chance to be cleansed entirely of the nicotine but your mind is definitely the hardest thing to overcome. You can be 3 weeks into it and if your mind wraps itself around the idea of wanting a cig it is just as hard as the first day. I tell everyone I know that if you have never smoked - DONT.
good luck - you can do it!

I quit 14 years ago. Its still really tough everyday, but I understand in a few more decades after I am dead the urge will lessen.

Good post. I've read and heard from my doc that it takes 7-10 days to break the initial physical addiction depending on your body's chemistry. I know the first 72 hours was pure physical hell when I quit. I used the inhaler, and I think that was the only reason I was able to do it because of the "oral fix" smokers have.

But it's easier to get off of smack than it is cigs. So, you're gonna need at least a couple of months of no smoking before you can really say you've "quit"..but if you can make it past the first week or so..you'll be in pretty good shape if you REALLY WANT to quit as opposed to knowing you should.

Good luck mate!

Physically, you should stop being dependent after 21 days. After that it's all in your brain.

Hey man, I've done it. If I can, you can! I quit cold turkey in mid Jan of this year. Haven't cheated once. The first 2 days is killer though. You'll feel like you are high on very bad chemicals. You'll be a space cadet but on the 3rd day it gets easier and you'll notice things are changing already. More energy and a sense of pride will come

Go easy on the candy though man. I gained 30lbs from giving in to the hand/mouth fixation

I think that depends on your personal addiction to it, and your dicipline, friends of mine need a month, others half a year or longer...

About a month of pain, after that you'll feel like you're missing a lost girlfriend for the rest of your life, but it gets better and you'll feel great. Good luck

You must know, why u wanna quit.
If you found some reasons than hahahahaha it on paper.

I have been without cig 30 days and it was ok, than my
good friend has celebrating something and i buyed one
pack of cig. I am smoking from this celebration to today now.
I wanna stop smoking because healt.

If i was no-smoker, i was smoking virtual cigs.

Figure out what you liked so much about smoking, and realize that it never really added anything positive to your life.

Most of the movies you've seen in your life were dominated by cool characters sucking on cigs. Cartoon camels beckoned you as a child. Maybe your parents smoked, or any elder you looked up to.

It's all a lie.

In the beginning, it was a simple -- yet brilliant -- marketing ploy. Nobody was getting hurt, right? Why not supply the military and Hollywood with free cigs?

But in the sixties, it got dirtier: the manufacturers KNEW they were poisoning you, but they considered it a strategic plus for the product.

They even rigged "light" cigarettes so that the smoking machines would register less crap then your body does. Tiny little holes allowed bits of smoke to escape. Not coincidentally, most users cover these holes with their fingers and/or mouths while smoking.

Now, any time you reach for a cig, you're succumbing to a century old marketing ploy that has continued in the face of reason. Baaaaa?

I've quited ~3 months ago (the second time), it's only hard during the first week, then it gets easier and easier.
And always try to not think about cigs, don't go out for drinking, and don't meet with friends that smoke for a while.
And take care that you don't start smoking again after a few months like I did the first time when I thought one cig after so many months wouldn't harm.

Withdrawing from nicotine is supposed to take 10 to 14 days I think but physchological addiction will take much longer. Don't go drinking with smokers for a while.

I tried to give up earlier in the year. The first 3 days are hell and i felt like shit. You have to find something else in life to replace smoking. Get fresh air, go for walks or take up a sport. 2 weeks into it i i walked past a smoker and it smelt like shit. Its tough and most of it is in the mind.
Having said all this, i just typed this message whilst smoking
I lasted a month but from what i've heard, the next time will be a little easier now i know what to expect. You MUST want to give up and at the moment i don't
